Or is it? Senator Barack Obama will increasingly lean on prominent Democratic women to undercut Gov. Sarah Palin and Senator John McCain, dispatching Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton to Florida on Monday and bolstering his plan to deploy female surrogates to battleground states, Obama advisers said Thursday… Obama aides said they were counting on not only Mrs. Clinton but also Democratic female governors to rebut Ms. Palin — and, by extension, Mr. McCain. Those governors include Janet Napolitano of Arizona and Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas… “What McCain has done with Governor Palin’s nomination is aim right at a demographic that Obama needs to address quickly: noncollege-educated women,” said Mike McCurry, a former spokesman in the Clinton White House. “They need to maximize Biden’s ability to reach out to them, but at the end of the day, it is Obama who has to get that very, very critical group.”… Advisers to Mrs. Clinton said that she stood ready to help the Obama-Biden ticket, but they urged the campaign not to overestimate the impact Mrs. Clinton could have, noting that she had other commitments this fall, like campaigning and raising money for Senate candidates. The CW after Palin’s speech was that Hillary’s the big loser because there’s another prominent woman around to usurp her throne. Just the opposite: Now Her Majesty gets to play kingmaker by dispensing her gender cache to whatever greater or lesser extent she sees fit to counter Palin. Obama’s at her mercy. Either McCain wins and finishes off Obama’s presidential ambitions, clearing the way for her in 2012, or else Obama wins with Hillary’s stature as feminist pope bolstered by having helped keep the sisterhood in the fold. The problem with the second strategy is that if she hits the trail in earnest and McCain wins anyway, it’ll be taken as evidence that her moment with women has passed. Better to sit back, half-ass it, and let the media decide later that she wasn’t really trying so that the thought of her deploying her army of women in 2012 still strikes terror into the GOP’s heart. Which, it sounds like, is what she’s going to do. Incidentally, am I mistaken or wasn’t the left very indignant indeed last week that McCain would stoop to playing identity politics with women’s votes? And yet here we are, with the Light and the Way set to roll out an army of surrogates to counter Palin, all of whom coincidentally happen to be female. The Times actually played up that fact in its original headline for this story, before surreptitiously changing it sometime last night to make it sound less cynical and damaging to Obama. Althouse caught them in the act. Exit question: How many progressive Obama supporters at the Florida rally will greet Hillary wearing “Bros Before Hos” t-shirts? Update: Here’s how flat-flooted Team Barry’s been caught: They’re apparently still pushing the Eagleton meme. “All statements by Barack Obama come with an expiration date. All of them.”

I feel like it is all about McCain. I thought what mattered was the people. Obama talk about US because that is really what matters, but when I see the RNC it is always about how wonderful McCain is and nothing about us. Tell me what strategies will he use to change anything. I have heard what he was going to do, but not how he is going to do it. Obama goes into detail of these things, but I don't see that in McCain. He does not have a clear, defined plan nor do feel he really cares about anybody. It is always "I will do this and I am the best for this" when Obama is saying "We can change this country together." That is the way it should be.

The RNC focused upon "playing the victim"; how their candidates have been viewed; how no one appreciates their service or their personal trials and tribulations. They played the victim of "sexism", and they also tried to steal the campaign theme of Obama (Change). never once did they take responsibility for the result of 8 years of GOP rule, nor the impact upon citizens. The DNC focused on the effects of the bad economy and poor strategy upon the people, and how the voters have been affected. They never took the road of playing "victim" and they identified problems and offered ideas. Further, the DNC was more gracious and respectful to their opponents than the RNC.Which group better represents US values and identifies with US concerns and issues?

We’ve long since documented the desperate lengths that John McCain is willing to go to win the office of the Presidency, even to the point of hiring the same people responsible for those whisper campaigns in 2000 that he might be a little off his rocker from his years as a POW and that he fathered an illegitimate black baby.  Chris Matthews seems a little surprised that John McCain is actually seeking to win the election.  Not sure what Chris thinks McCain’s been doing for the last 18 months, but it’s Howard Fineman who gives the real answer to the $64,000 question.  The White House wants McCain to win because they know there would be no accountability for all their criminal acts with another Republican in office.

FINEMAN: If you’re in this White House, you want another Republican administration to follow. You don’t want a Democratic administration coming in there while the evidence is still fresh, so to speak. To look at it the way…

MATTHEWS: With the subpoena power…

FINEMAN: With the subpoena power and looking through all the records and looking at all the decisions that were made. You want to cover over your two terms with a third term the way Ronald Reagan did with George HW Bush.

All of which is undoubtedly true, and one can only hope that there might be a depressingly rare accountability moment coming from a Democratic White House (although nothing about the current Democratic majority would lead us to believe they have the fortitude to pursue it).  But the thing that chaps my hide is the tacit admission by Fineman that the Bush administration would have stuff to hide.  Not that they don’t…we’ve been saying so since the beginning of C&L, but that after years and years of having Fineman and Co. make excuses for the Bush administration and be content to regurgitate their talking points (just as Kelly O’Donnell unapologetically does in this clip), NOW Fineman admits it as if it’s been common knowledge all along.

Transcripts below the fold

MATTHEWS: As we’ve said, President Bush and John McCain have had a chilly relationship at best. Things turned arctic after that brutal primary fight back in 2000 and while they warmed up a bit in recent years, few people believe Bush and McCain are close friends. But the president and some of his former staffers are working hard to get their former rival elected. No surprise there. Getting another Republican in there would be Bush’s best hope to carry on, even bulk up his legacy. Here’s Bush back in March when he made it plain that he wants McCain there to continue his foreign policy.

BUSH: John McCain will find out when he takes the oath of office his most important responsibility is to protect the American people from harm. And there’s still an enemy that lurks. An enemy that wants to strike us. And this country better have somebody in that Oval Office who understands the stakes. And John McCain understands those stakes.

[end video]
MATTHEWS: So Kelly, they’re not ready to turn the ball over to the other side, see how well they can play it, huh?

O’DONNELL: Well the President would certainly like to continue that idea of offense as a part of foreign diplomacy, which is something that John McCain talks about a lot. Where McCain does differ is he is more open to some of the diplomatic negotiations that you hear so much from Barack Obama. Different than Obama, but I think McCain does have a slightly different view on foreign policy than the President.

MATTHEWS: Again, Karl Rove is hovering over this campaign. Steve Schmidt, one of his former people… associates is in there running the campaign now. Now it looks to me like they want to win.

RATHER: They want to win and John McCain wants to win. Because he has bought in to the Rovian strategy for this next election and why wouldn’t he? Karl Rove ran two brilliant campaigns for president. However, that could cost him on the other side, because on the one hand he’s trying to say, ‘you know, what…I’m not Bush III’ on the other hand, he’s having Bush’s operatives run the campaign for him.

O’DONNELL: Obviously top Republican operatives have worked for the Bush/Cheney era. But Schmidt would be the first to tell you he’s an Arnold Schwarzenegger man. He ran his re-election campaign, helped him to win coming back from a big deficit. So even this new guy whose sort of running this organization is not as tied to President Bush and Vice President Cheney as you might think.

MATTHEWS: I’m looking at Rove here, over this whole campaign, not just Schmidt, but Rove. I wonder if the polarizing, partisan way that the Bush campaign put his whole operation together the last two terms isn’t going to invade and perhaps hurt the McCain effort. ‘

TUCKER: Well, remember Rove worries about his legacy too. Just a little while ago, he was thought of one of the most brilliant political strategists of a generation. But more recently he’s been looking like the guy who has diminished the Republican brand.

MATTHEWS: Yeah.

TUCKER: So he wants McCain to win not just for Bush’s sake, but for Rove’s sake as well.

MATTHEWS: Yeah, he’s was five feet ahead of the Special Prosecuter, let’s not forget that, in the leak case.

FINEMAN: Yeah. That’s part of it too. First of all, belief matters here. Bush and McCain agree on Iraq…

MATTHEWS: Right.

FINEMAN: …Which is a big deal. One of the biggest, most consequential decisions any president ever made. So there’s belief. There’s also fear. If you’re in this White House, you want another Republican administration to follow.

MATTHEWS: Yeah…

It seems like a similar strategy that the GOP used pitting Dick Cheney vs John Kerry, where Dick Cheney completely owned Kerry by making him debate and sparr, taking the attention away from Bush. How do you think the democrats will respond? And wow i must actually say, that even though I am supporting obama, McCain's strategy is actually pretty good let me explain:McCain claims to be a "maverick" which means he is willing to betray his party just to make people happy( This works to make those voters who are moderate and don't really have a party preference, but slightly angers the republican party). He choose Sarah Palin as her VP, because she is really Pro-life which will grab those voters attention who are from the Republican side. By doing this, on the political spectrum he has more than 1/2 of it supporting him.Now Obama's strategy really seems not as great. Obama falls weak when it comes to Foreign Policy, so he choose Biden as his VP, because he has experience in Foreign Policy.what makes McCain less popular is his affiliation with George W. Bush, which currently is at an all time low.If McCain didn't have an affiliation with George Bush he would be winning.

I know Barrack has only been in the Senate for a few years, but why would former mayor of Wasilla, Alaska Sarah Palin state that Obama has not authored "a single major law or even a reform" in her convention speech when that is complete falsehood? Co-sponsored with Richard Lugar (R-IN) legislation funding the destruction or securing of "loose" nuclear weapons in other countries. This was a major piece of nonproliferation legislation.Co-sponsored, again with Lugar, the first federal bill dedicated to pandemic flu preparedness, including vaccine research and antiviral stockpiling, in addition to state and local planning and preparedness measures.Sponsored a bill regulating genetic testing, which directed the government to develop special proficiency tests for labs that do genetics work.Co-sponsored, with Hillary Clinton(!), legislation to help hospitals to develop programs for disclosure of medical errors They even co-wrote an article for the New England Journal of Medicine on the subject.Introduced his "health care for hybrids" bill, an energy security bill, various bills on relief for Hurricane Katrina (including aid for kids and a ban on no-bid contracts by FEMA)Introduced legislation, which passed, to create a public database of all federal spending and contractsIntroduced legislation trying to raise CAFE standards, i.e. mileage standards for US-produced vehiclesIntroduced veteran's health care legislationIntroduced legislation making certain kinds of voter intimidation illegalIntroduced a lobbying reform billIntroduced legislation to revamps ethics oversight, replacing the present Congressional ethics committee with a bipartisan commission of retired judges and members of Congress, and allowing any citizen to report ethics violations.Introduced legislation to suspend and repeal certain tax incentives for the oil and gas industryIntroduced a joint resolution clarifying that the use of force against Iran is not authorized by the AUMF Against Iraq, or any other resolution previously adoptedIntroduced a bill to provide housing assistance for very low-income veteransIntroduced a bill to amend the Clean Air Act to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation fuel sold in the USIntroduced a bill to authorize the National Science Foundation to establish a Climate Change Education ProgramIntroduced a bill to required accountability for contractors and contract personnel (e.g. Blackwater) under federal contractsIntroduced a bill to require the President to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the U.S. foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, and the elimination of extreme global poverty

In the 8 years in the Illinois legislature obama voted present about 130 timesApparently voting present especially in Illinois is not that uncommon, sometimes "present" votes are made because of instructions from their leaders, or because they object to provisions in bills they might otherwise support. But to put it into perspective, Obama cast 4,000 votes in Illinois Senate and used the "present" vote to protest bills he didn't fully believed in or as a part of a broader legislative strategy, it's often used to send a message about the bill.As a example:Say there was a Bill "Right to Freedom of Speech except on Mondays" voting "present" sends the message:I like the bill, and will vote yes for the bill, if the bill is amended "except on Monday" is removed. So voting "present" is sometimes just as decisive as voting yes or no.references: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/20/us/politics/20obama.htmlhttp://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=18348437

Invest in the Manufacturing Sector and Create 5 Million New Green Jobs * Invest in our Next Generation Innovators and Job Creators: Obama will create an Advanced Manufacturing Fund to identify and invest in the most compelling advanced manufacturing strategies. The Fund will have a peer-review selection and award process based on the Michigan 21st Century Jobs Fund, a state-level initiative that has awarded over $125 million to Michigan businesses with the most innovative proposals to create new products and new jobs in the state. * Double Funding for the Manufacturing Extension Partnership: The Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) works with manufacturers across the country to improve efficiency, implement new technology and strengthen company growth. This highly-successful program has engaged in more than 350,000 projects across the country and in 2006 alone, helped create and protect over 50,000 jobs. But despite this success, funding for MEP has been slashed by the Bush administration. Barack Obama will double funding for the MEP so its training centers can continue to bolster the competitiveness of U.S. manufacturers. * Invest In A Clean Energy Economy And Create 5 Million New Green Jobs: Obama will invest $150 billion over 10 years to advance the next generation of biofuels and fuel infrastructure, accelerate the commercialization of plug-in hybrids, promote development of commercial scale renewable energy, invest in low emissions coal plants, and begin transition to a new digital electricity grid. The plan will also invest in America's highly-skilled manufacturing workforce and manufacturing centers to ensure that American workers have the skills and tools they need to pioneer the first wave of green technologies that will be in high demand throughout the world. * Create New Job Training Programs for Clean Technologies: The Obama plan will increase funding for federal workforce training programs and direct these programs to incorporate green technologies training, such as advanced manufacturing and weatherization training, into their efforts to help Americans find and retain stable, high-paying jobs. Obama will also create an energy-focused youth jobs program to invest in disconnected and disadvantaged youth. * Boost the Renewable Energy Sector and Create New Jobs: The Obama plan will create new federal policies, and expand existing ones, that have been proven to create new American jobs. Obama will create a federal Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) that will require 25 percent of American electricity be derived from renewable sources by 2025, which has the potential to create hundreds of thousands of new jobs on its own. Obama will also extend the Production Tax Credit, a credit used successfully by American farmers and investors to increase renewable energy production and create new local jobs.New Jobs Through National Infrastructure InvestmentBarack Obama believes that it is critically important for the United States to rebuild its national transportation infrastructure – its highways, bridges, roads, ports, air, and train systems – to strengthen user safety, bolster our long-term competitiveness and ensure our economy continues to grow. * Create a National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank: Barack Obama will address the infrastructure challenge by creating a National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank to expand and enhance, not supplant, existing federal transportation investments. This independent entity will be directed to invest in our nation’s most challenging transportation infrastructure needs. The Bank will receive an infusion of federal money, $60 billion over 10 years, to provide financing to transportation infrastructure projects across the nation. These projects will create up to two million new direct and indirect jobs per year and stimulate approximately $35 billion per year in new economic activity.Technology, Innovation and Creating JobsBarack Obama will increase federal support for research, technology and innovation for companies and universities so that American families can lead the world in creating new advanced jobs and products. * Invest in the Sciences: Barack Obama supports doubling federal funding for basic research and changing the posture of our federal government from being one of the most anti-science administrations in American history to one that embraces science and technology. This will foster home-grown innovation, help ensure the competitiveness of US technology-based businesses, and ensure that 21st century jobs can and will grow in America. * Make the Research and Development Tax Credit Permanent: Barack Obama wants investments in a skilled research and development workforce and technology infrastructure to be supported here in America so that American workers and communities will benefit. Obama wants to make the Research and Development tax credit permanent so that firms can rely on it when maki

What will that make him 1083 years old? I was just wondering, I live in AZ, and I'm pretty sure it sounds like Napolitano is going to go for McCains senate seat. Napolitano is our democratic governer in AZ (a red state), and she has MUCH higher approval ratings than McCain, in a red state. Don't you think it will be awesome to watch Napolitano destroy him in 2012 after Obama destroys him in 08?So, McCain sheep, do you think hes going to do it? And what kind of strategy do you have for him to beat the most popular Governor for AZ in the history of AZ?

In the 8 years in the Illinois legislature obama voted present about 130 timesApparently voting present especially in Illinois is not that uncommon, sometimes "present" votes are made because of instructions from their leaders, or because they object to provisions in bills they might otherwise support. But to put it into perspective, Obama cast 4,000 votes in Illinois Senate and used the "present" vote to protest bills he didn't fully believed in or as a part of a broader legislative strategy.reference: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/20/us/politics/20obama.html

McCain has had to spend all of the funds he raised during primaries before the announcement of his official nomination at the Republican Conference. He is doing so on a massive series of personal attacks on Obama style adds being shown on Prime Time TV in all swinging states. His campaign manager is on record as saying "this campaign is not going to be about the issues"Has he finally come out and admitted that their only "election strategy" is character assassination on Obama and his family? If The Repubulicans are so sure they are the better party to govern, then why have they spent so much time spreading rumour, lies and innuendo instead of debating the issues?

Just something i've noticed repeatedly in the way the republicans tend to side-step what i believe are quite relevant issues:1. you question their foreign policies, they say: "you're attacking the troops."2. you suggest the idea of diplomacy over aggression, they say:"you're pandering to terrorists"3. but when the administration ultimately decides to adopt this very strategy proposed by obama, they say:"the president is engaging in appeasement!"4. you question their candidate's role as a parent, a candidate who claims to be strong on family values, they say:"you're attacking the daughter"5. you question the vp choice by mccain, a once fearsome proponent of experience, they say:"you're attacking women" (when their candidate is probably the most anti-women's rights candidate since pat buchanan)6. you question their very ideals, they say:"you're an elitist" (when they themselves have ridiculed the notion of community organizing which have helped to bring aid and support to a hundreds of thousands of less privileged americans that have been overlooked by our government!)ANYONE ELSE UNDERSTAND THIS LANGUAGE?

Restore the Readiness of the National Guard and Reserves * Barack Obama will provide the National Guard with the equipment it needs for foreign and domestic emergencies and time to restore and refit before deploying. He will make the head of the National Guard a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to ensure concerns of our citizen soldiers reach the level they mandate. He will ensure that reservists and Guard members are treated fairly when it comes to employment, health, and education benefits.Develop Whole of Government Initiatives to Promote Global Stability * Integrate Military and Civilian Efforts: An Obama administration will build up the capacity of each non-Pentagon agency to deploy personnel and area experts where they are needed, to help move soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines out of civilian roles. * Create a Civilian Assistance Corps (CAC): An Obama administration will set a goal of creating a national CAC of 25,000 personnel. This corps of civilian volunteers with special skill, sets (doctors, lawyers, engineers, city planners, agriculture specialists, police, etc.) would be organized to provide each federal agency with a pool of volunteer experts willing to deploy in times of need at home and abroad.Restore Our Alliances * Engage Our Allies in Meeting Our Common Security Challenges: America's traditional alliances, such as NATO, must be transformed and strengthened, including on common security concerns like Afghanistan, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Obama will renew alliances and ensure our allies contribute their fair share to our mutual security. * Organize to Help Our Partners and Allies in Need: An Obama administration will expand humanitarian activities that build friends and allies at the regional and local level (such as during the response to the tsunami in South and Southeast Asia), and win hearts and minds in the process.Reform Contracting * Create Transparency for Military Contractors: Barack Obama will require the Pentagon and State Department to develop a strategy for determining when contracting makes sense, rather than continually handing off governmental jobs to well-connected companies. An Obama administration will create the transparency and accountability needed for good governance. Finally, it will establish the legal status of contractor personnel, making possible prosecution of any abuses committed by private military contractors. * Restore Honesty, Openness, and Commonsense to Contracting and Procurement: An Obama administration will realize savings by reducing the corruption and cost overruns that have become all too routine in defense contracting. This includes launching a program of acquisition reform and management, which would end the common practice of no-bid contracting. He will end the abuse of supplemental budgets by creating a system of oversight for war funds as stringent as in the regular budget. He will restore the government's ability to manage contracts by rebuilding our contract officer corps. He will order the Justice Department to prioritize prosecutions that will punish and deter fraud, waste and abuse.LOL @ Earth Needs Oil! Thanx for the belly laugh your response gave me!McCain supporters, any legitimate response?

Support Working FamiliesProvide a "Making Work Pay" Tax Cut for America's Working Families: Obama will restore fairness to the tax code and provide 150 million workers the tax relief they need. Obama will create a new "Making Work Pay" tax credit of up to $500 per person, or $1,000 per working family. The "Making Work Pay" tax credit will completely eliminate income taxes for 10 million Americans.Raise the Minimum Wage to $9.50 an Hour by 2011: Barack Obama believes that people who work full time should not live in poverty. Before the Democrats took back Congress, the minimum wage had not changed in 10 years. Even though the minimum wage will rise to $9.50 an hour by 2011, the minimum wage's real purchasing power will still be below what it was in 1968. As president, Obama will further raise the minimum wage, index it to inflation and increase the Earned Income Tax Credit to make sure that full-time workers can earn a living wage that allows them to raise their families and pay for basic needs such as food, transportation, and housing -- things so many people take for granted.Expand the Earned Income Tax Credit: In both the Illinois State Senate and the U.S. Senate, Obama has championed efforts to expand the EITC, which is one of the most successful anti-poverty programs to date. As president, Obama will reward work by increasing the number of working parents eligible for EITC benefits, increasing the benefit available to parents who support their children through child support payments, and reducing the EITC marriage penalty which hurts low-income families. Under the Obama plan, full-time workers making minimum wage would get an EITC benefit up to $555, more than three times greater than the $175 benefit they get today. If the workers are responsibly supporting their children on child support, the Obama plan would give those workers a benefit of $1,110.Expand Paid Sick Days: Half of all private sector workers have no paid sick days and the problem is worse for employees in low-paying jobs, where less than a quarter receive any paid sick days. Barack Obama will require that employers provide seven paid sick days per year.Expand the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA): The FMLA covers only certain employees of employers with 50 or more employees. Barack Obama will expand the FMLA to cover businesses with 25 or more employees. Barack Obama will expand the FMLA to cover more purposes as well, including allowing workers to take leave for elder care needs; allowing parents up to 24 hours of leave each year to participate in their children's academic activities at school; allowing leave to be taken for purposes of caring for individuals who reside in their home for 6 months or more; and expanding FMLA to cover leave for employees to address domestic violence and sexual assault.Encourage States to Adopt Paid Leave: As president, Barack Obama will initiate a 50 state strategy to encourage all of the states to adopt paid-leave systems. Obama will provide a $1.5 billion fund to assist states with start-up costs and to help states offset the costs for employees and employers.Expand High-Quality Afterschool Opportunities: Barack Obama will double funding for the main federal support for afterschool programs, the 21st Century Learning Centers program, to serve one million more children. Obama will include measures to maximize performance and effectiveness across grantees nationwide.Expand the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit: The Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit provides too little relief to families that struggle to afford child care expenses. Barack Obama will reform the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit by making it refundable and allowing low-income families to receive up to a 50 percent credit for their child care expenses.Protect Against Caregiver Discrimination: Workers with family obligations often are discriminated against in the workplace. Barack Obama will commit the government to enforcing recently-enacted Equal Employment Opportunity Commission guidelines on caregiver discrimination.Expand Flexible Work Arrangements: Barack Obama will address this concern by creating a program to inform businesses about the benefits of flexible work schedules for productivity and establishing positive workplaces; helping businesses create flexible work opportunities; and increasing federal incentives for telecommuting. Obama will also make the federal government a model employer in terms of adopting flexible work schedules and permitting employees to petition to request flexible arrangements. For more information about Barack Obama's plan to help more Americans succeed in the workforce, please visit the Economic Policy page.Strengthen Our SchoolsExpand Early Childhood Education: Obama has been a champion of early childhood education since his years in the Illinois legislature, where he led the effort to create the Illinois Early Learning Council. Obama has introduced No "almost" to it, I have it down perfectly. No real responses? No real debate on this issue? Or are some voters just going on how they feel about the candidates or parties? Come on people, this election is important. At least TRY to make an informed choice.Programs that will be cut will be the 10 billion dollars a month that goes to Iraq.

Obama sponsored legislation to combat predatory payday loans, and he also was credited with lobbying the state to more closely regulate some of the most egregious predatory lending practices. * American Jobs: Barack Obama introduced the Patriot Employer Act of 2007 to provide a tax credit to companies that maintain or increase the number of full-time workers in America relative to those outside the US; maintain their corporate headquarters in America; pay decent wages; prepare workers for retirement; provide health insurance; and support employees who serve in the military.airhead: Check it out at http://www.opencongress.org/people/show/400629_barack_obama

I thought Obama was the "chosen one". I guess the dems better sort their mess out or it is bye bye savior! The thing is, I am still undecided, and watching the behavior, flip-flopping (Obama is waivering on tax cuts, abortion and now claims to have considered military service out of high school, an idea NEVER MENTIONED in either of his two biographies) tactics, and weak strategy of the Democrats, I am leaning towards McCain. And the kicker is I would have absolutely voted for Hillary.Maybe the democrats should visit the Oracle again, like in the Matrix, to get some further info, since the "one" is lost seemingly. I wonder who that "oracle" would be?http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/uselection2008/barackobama/2700555/Barack-Obama-wanted-to-join-the-US-military.htmlhttp://apnews.myway.com/article/20080907/D93228880.htmlhttp://apnews.myway.com/article/20080907/D932334O2.htmlsuck itActually, Obama did not get anywhere NEAR this kind of "bump" if that is what it is. I tend to think it may be a little more. The soldier article is disgusting. How opportunistic can a person be?I think after this year, they will be 12 and 14, still a decent record, but we'll see after the debates. Obama is an eloquent speaker but TERRIBLE in debates. Biden is a seasoned debate king, but we have yet to see how Palin will perform. I think the election may actually be decided from the VP debate largely, because McCain will wipe the floor with Obama head to head.

I am in favor of neither opponent. However,Obama says he will raise taxes for everyone. Half my teaching paycheck already goes towards taxes and I'm in the lowest tax bracket. I'd like to own my own home sometime soon. This doesn't affect him, because he is rich. Same with Governor Corzine. He said one thing and did another when he was elected. The NEA supported him and is now apologizing for their mistake, as they have done with every other democratic nominee. Isn't it best to learn from your mistakes?Obama has very little experience. He is in favor of socialized medicine. This means that our tax dollars pay for medical care for those who can't afford it. This also means that we cannot choose our doctors and that we will have to wait in very long lines to be seen by a doctor. (They have this system in Canada). He wants us to support those on welfare who continue to have children they cannot support because they know that we will pay for them. (I am not against welfare, but there are so many people who take advantage of the system. The democrats want us to support them with our tax dollars)He has endorsed partial birth abortion in the past. He also opposed the ban on killing infants mistakenly left alive by abortion. Don't believe me? Read below:http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con...What is Obama's strategy for immigration? Is he for it or against? I believe that we need to either stop immigration for awhile (like Australia) until we can get jobs for those who are already here, or do some thorough health checks at the border (like we did in the early 1900s). If people were sick in the past, they were sent back on the boats. Now, we have all these new vaccines in our country because of all the new diseases brought over by immigration, and these vaccines are causing problems with our children, such as autism, ADHD, etc. as proven through research studies. All I'm asking for is an explanation, not hostility. For those of you who dared me to report you as abuse to yahoo, I did. Like I said, please be polite. If you have nothing nice to say, move on.On vaccines and autism:http://specialchildren.about.com/od/autismandvaccines/i/vaccines_2.htmThank you virtual obama for giving me the only helpful answer so far. I'll check out your website so I can get my facts straight.Well after reading the first several nasty comments, I'm finally getting some good advice from professionals. Thank you to those who were polite. The medical research I'm talking about is hanging on the wall in my doctor's office. It was a chart showing the 10 vaccines we used to give verses the 30 or 40 we give now and the increased rates of autism by over half since those new vaccines were introduced. I don't know if there is a relation, but I am very health conscious and I know several children that have had very bad side effects and illnesses from their vaccines. One was my brother when he was an infant. The research is still inconclusive, but my point wasn't referencing vaccines, it was in relation to immigration and how we are not monitoring it closely enough to know who is coming into the country and what they are bringing with them.Personally, I think anyone who runs for president this day in age is crazy. At this point I won't be voting. I can't bring myself to support any of these fools. It's like a three ring circus.
