I know little about politics in America but there are certain ideals I believe in. I'll list my beliefs and you can direct me to the most valid political party.I feel that there should be a national health care plan for all Americans for free. I feel that less restrictions and more research should be done on stem cells and human cloning. I feel that church and state should be completely separated and all religious propaganda should be removed from US currency while removing "under God" from the pledge of allegiance (reverting it to its original form before being changed by a religious group). I feel that there should be no wars started by the United States without just cause and complete backing by the United Nations. There should be more focus on space exploration and colonization. There should be no more drilling for oil and the US should back research into alternative fuel sources like solar, electricity, and hydrogen instead of leaving the research up to the oil and auto companies (conflict of interests?). Does any of this make sense? Which political group do I most closely identify with? Thank you.I forgot to mention that I feel that all woman should have the right to abortions up to a certain point.

Open Question: Are all Liberal...
First they accuse Republicans of practicing racial discrimination against Obama. Now they, themselves are practicing discrimination against Sarah Palin based upon her moral convictions, religious beliefs, and lack of experience in the U.S Senate or the House of Representatives. She actually has more experience in politics and executive leadership than some of the incumbents currently serving in the Senate and House. This proves that their false accusations of Palin being under-qualified for the office of the Vice President are nothing more than discrimination. Why do the Liberal Democrats practice what they accuse other people of doing?
Open Question: How did/does your...
I know that because of my sexuality I was turned of by my church (roman catholic) but also due to my sexuality I found a spiritual sense of self and found what I believe in and what sits well with me.I hear so often from homophobic people and groups (that's right Queers Inc I'm talking about you) that all GLBT people are atheists, I just don't believe this.I know that there are open GLBT people in most, if not all religions.Back to the question how has your sexuality affected your religious/spiritual beliefs.
Open Question: Why is abortion even...
Since when is it someone else's business to tell other people how to live their lives. nothing upsets me more than that. when religious, holier-than-thou freak comes along and try to tell other people what they can and cannot do. It is a woman's body and her PERSONAL choice if that's what she wants. If they want to get rid of abortion then get rid of capital punishment too. Murder is murder then right. I believe in god and no i would never get an abortion but i wouldn't tell anyone else that they should not just because that is my belief. what happened to the inalienable rights that the declaration of independence says we have that mccain/palin are trying to take away?
Open Question: What is so frightening...
-I've heard a lot of Atheist opinions on religion, God, and everything else concerning sanctity. After throwing around some religious beliefs, I saw many of the Atheists became rather defensive of THEIR beliefs. I even looked at some profiles or two, and found that I was blocked. This tells me that several people either don't want me looking at their profile for some strange reason, they don't want me contradicting their answers for fear that I might just speak some sense, or that they are afraid to hear a different opinion. I also noticed some Atheists ask scorning questions putting personal beliefs down.-Just mention the topic of religion, and every person without a belief in God seems to get critical and snide. Why is religion so frightening and offensive to people? I would appreciate it if some 'religious' people could get in some opinions this time.-Here's a reflection I had on the topic: Religion is only the first layer. Morality is what matters. It is the action of the person that determines their guilt or innocence. People use religion to help them make a better life for themselves and others. Some people can't make proper use of religion, and their religion is labeled because of their sinful actions.I don't really care that much about the blocking part, so stop avoiding the question.Do people really even read my questions, or do they start to rant immediately?
Open Question: William Ayers vs. Rod...
Saw this on another board, thought it was well thought out:"I'm curious to know what the difference is between William Ayers and Rod Parsley. I'm also curious to know what is the difference between Reverand Wright and Pastor John Hagee.---William Ayers was a 1960's radical activist and co-founder of the Weather Underground, a radical left organization that organized protests and also bombed buildings. Today, William Ayers is professor at the University of Illinois and is known for his work in school reform and community organizing.Barack Obama and William Ayers have had professional contact. Ayers was appointed by chicago Mayor Richard Daley to assist in founding the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a school reform program. Senator Obama served on the board of the CAC from 1995 to 2002. William Ayers also hosted a candidate reception attended by Obama early in Obama's first Illinois state Senate campaign in 1995. The two served at the same time on the Woods Fund Board, an anti-poverty philanthropic foundation, from 1999 until Obama left in 2002.Barack Obama has described William Ayers as follows: "This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood, who's a professor of English in Chicago who I know and who I have not received some official endorsement from. He's not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis."---Rod Parsley is an American televangelist, senior pastor of World Harvest Church (a Pentacostal megachurch in Ohio). Pastor Parsley is most well known for two things. First, he believes there should be no separation between church and state; he has opposed same-sex marriage, abortion, and anti-hate speech legislation. Second, Parsley has called upon Christians to wage a "war" against the "false religion" of Islam with the aim of destroying it. Parsley claims that Islam is an "anti-Christ religion" predicated on "deception." The Muslim prophet Muhammad, he writes, "received revelations from demons and not from the true God." And he emphasizes this point: "Allah was a demon spirit."Parsley endorsed John McCain, who called Parsley a "spiritual guide." McCain had actively sought Parsley's endorsement during his Republican primary battle with Mike Huckabee. McCain later rejected Parsley's endorsement based on Parsley's statements regarding Islam.Parsley went on to say that he doesn't believe America can "truly fulfill its divine purpose until we understand America was founded, in part, with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed” (referring once again to Islam) and that Muhammad is "the mouthpiece of a conspiracy of spiritual evil."In repudiating Parsley's comments, McCain stated, "I believe there is no place for that kind of dialogue in America, and I believe that even though he endorsed me, and I didn't endorse him, the fact is that I repudiate such talk, and I reject his endorsement."---So, we have two Senators. Both are running for president. Being Senators, I can appreciate how many poeple these men have come into contact with, worked on projects alongside, shook hands with, attended events simultaneously, and networked through, with, over, under and around.I can further appreciate that William Ayers is a lame guy, at least in my opinion. I wouldn't be friends with this man, but then neither was Barack Obama. Their interactions were professional and relatively impersonal; it's not like they worked exclusively together without anyone else on controversial projects such as what William Ayers used to do almost 40 years ago.I can similarly appreciate that Rod Parsley is a lame guy. I wouldn't want to be friends with this man, but then neither was John McCain. Their interactions were professional and relatively impersonal. And even despite John McCain's feeling that Parsley is a "spiritual guide," I'm willing to discount this comment as injudicious. It's not like Parsley and McCain worked exclusively together without anyone else on controversial projects such as destroying Islam. However, I'm forced to note McCain does share Parsley's belief in church and state by his own mirroring of the religious right's war on abortion and gay marriage. But why is Barack Obama getting assaulted incessantly by attack groups about William Ayers, when John McCain has thus far escaped similar criticism for his alleged relationship with Rod Parsley? And we all know about Pastor Wright's radical comments about America and whites, something Barack Obama gets dinged on every day despite only having attended his church maybe 20 times in as many years (Newsweek). We hear about Wright all the time from people. But what about McCain and Pastor John Hagee? Hagee endorsed McCain, and initially Mccain was "proud" to receive it. Hagee has said Hurricane Katrina was "the judgment of God against New Orleans" and that Hitler was a "hunter" and "part of a divine plan to drive Jews from Europe to Palestine." Granted, McCain later rejected the endorsement parti
Open Question: Why are my religious...
Someone asked what the serpent in the Bible represents. I replied "God's angry penis." The answer got reported and removed. Since the Bible is open to each person's interpretation of it, then whose place is it to say my interpretation of it is wrong? Since men wrote the Bible, then this could very well be a symbol for that aspect of God which they used in the telling. If this is what I choose to believe, then I am no more wrong for my stating it than anyone else who has a differing view. I didn't use dirty words, so they can't claim that it was of an adult content, and anyone who has studied Freudian psychology might even agree with my assessment. I even got a few thumbs up before the answer was removed. So where do people get off stepping all over my religious freedom like this?I can't even appeal the matter since the appeal link doesn't work for some reason.Don't give me that, Justsyd. Look at all of the sex questions and answers all over Y!A, many by teens. Saying "penis" doesn't go against any Y!A rules on subject matter. And if you bother to study psychology at all, then you'd know that the phrase "angry penis" is a psychological term. Since when are psychological terms off limits?"Being mean or obscene - Because kids as young as 13 may participate in Yahoo! Answers, sexually explicit and vulgar language and images are not welcome on the site. Also not welcome are belligerence, insults, slurs and generally objectionable speech. If you wouldn't say it in public, don't post it on Answers."None of that applies to my reply any more than it would apply to any other person's answers which are still left on the board. I would say it in public because, as I stated, it is a psychological term. It is no different than using the word "anal" in that respect. That you or others choose to see it in a different light says something about the type of person you are and those others who find it offensive than anything else. And if people actually went by that quote you gave of Y!A rules, then almost all of the Bible and many other Holy Scriptures, along with much of historical accounts, all would not be allowed to be mentioned here. I could go to Women Studies section and report every last one of them that speak of rape, to Politics and report any who talk of war, to Society and report all who speak of masturbation and having sex. I could proclaim "How dare they put those images into kid's heads, even if it is kids who speak of them".
Resolved Question: Does fear equal...
Following anybody's beliefs because you fear them sounds a little crazy to me! BUT, lately I have been getting those religious emails that say -- if you don't forward this to at least 7 people, something bad will happen to you. God should be all accepting, non judgemental and have unconditionl love for us. I refuse to think of his as revengeful. But what do you think. (Please do not resite Bible. I just want to hear your thoughts!) TYI did not say that I believe such chain letters and I do always delete them. Its just that a lot of Christian believers seem to relate fear to respect. Why so?
Open Question: Who are more...
Yahoo Answers certainly has a lot of heated conversation between religious groups. I mean, we all know that people are passionate about their beliefs, but sometimes we can overreact, right? But who are the bigger reactionaries here? The christians, and their many sub groups? The atheists or agnostics? Or other groups?
Open Question: Do people confuse...
A interesting answer to my previous question stated:''I admit I base my decision to believe on faith, as well as experience. Now, can you admit that you base your non-belief on faith as well? ''An answer that shows concise reasoning and thoughtfulness. And to this I replied that I did have ''faith'' in a universe without a creator god, a ''belief'' that we exist without religion. I have based this on my experience of the evidence that I have seen. So why is it someone like this who can answer my question truthfully and with a high level of understanding, but many other religious people here will ignorantly answer my questions with, ''Because I have faith and you don't so you're wrong''?P.S. Q re-listed with the help of Insigthere =D
Open Question: The Seeker wonder why...
Yesterday, I stated a question about medical marijuana. I had just done research and my research resulted in amazing results. I posted my finding and the a top contributor told me I was breaking laws and ranting. Then said they had A 3.9something gradepoint average, then attacked my person saying I was a drunk and I was looking for an excuse to smoke pot. I guess what I wrote may be finger pointing, but if the finger on the internets points somewhere, I cannot help it. The info is out there. Now as far as drinking. I don't. As far as the medical "pot" That apparently I desire to smoke. My goodness. I havent felt so much rage since I have spoken to An ER doctor. Stress born anger. It was apparent in the attack. What I have stated is the I am and Asperger 5 autistic. I am a logic based organism. Where did I say smoke pot? There was a THC pill offered. The is great dietary ranges of vitamins and oils. This supposed celiac also stated more innaccurate frazinng such as, the histimine test is what makes the difference between an active celiac and someone holding the genetic propensity. I hate to burst the uneducated 3.96 grade point averaged celiac while eating gluten"s bubble, But I am a proven spruer. I have failed every test of histimine and antibody antigen and whatever my lamans small mind can actually understand and mispell. I also failed an endiscopy, I also have mapped several people who have proven sprue and failed the 60 percent effective tests they call gold bond. I am screaming at the top of my logical lungs for one reason. I have exhibitted DH. I have exhibitted my villi in my small intesting laying flat. I have the names of others with the same. What has my accuser done to help educate the medical world of the true scientific means to the answers on how to train the USA medical field on how to correctly identify the problem. The attack was so all over the board I wonder how sound a person this rant accuser was.To say her celiacs wasn't bad enough to have dabilittating effects for then does not mean that other celiacs don't feel dabilitated in a different way than the one angry alcohol drinking celiac. They even admitted it. They enjoy their gluten free beer. They even accused a non drinker of being drunk. In my asperger mind, all I was attempting was to help. To learn and to seek. I wish this top person answering questions finds some peace and happiness. Their rebuttle was so angry it makes me ask the question again, just like in the first time," Why does the FDA stand on alcohol when it knows the dabilitating effects can cause violence just as exhibitted by my angry unnamed answer person. If they are on the board of doctors, please revoke their liscence. Or at least administer counsiling right away. If they stop long enough to ask where I learned this from... I am the son of a retired senior pharmacutical lobbiest. I am asperger 5. I wish to educate and bring peace. Not your angers at medical marijuana. Nor your political or religious belief. I only deal in making my exterior that of a comic to protect myself from attacker like you, and keep thee most logical mind safe so it can simply help to make the world a better place. Was that a rant or a thought and is this or is this not america? Is autistic picture drawing rant or the only way this autistic can communicate? Because he is autistic, let's force him to say it how we like to hear it. Please, Just be at peace and try to find your religious side. I am the seeker, noone can change that. And I am thee finest at what the seeker does irl. I coexist extremelly well with others. Can you say the same? By the way My drug of prefference is currently coffee. I live with my pain and sensitivity because I can! I wish there was options . Even asperger 5 have points which sadden them. Nothing is perfect.

Open Question: Evolutionists: please...
Large scale change of one type of organism into another, so-called "macro-evolution", is beyond the ability of mutation coupled with natural selection to produce. Evolutionists acknowledge this is a "research issue". Even non-creation scientists (such as Denton and Behe) have written books giving the hard scientific facts that document why this is impossible. The "geologic column", which is cited as physical evidence of evolution occurring in the past, is better explained as the result of a devastating global flood which happened about 5,000 years ago, as described in the Bible. Even evolutionists acknowledge that the fossil record is one of "fully-formed abrupt appearance" and "stasis" (that is, no change over time). The belief that the atoms of a "Big Bang" eventually produced people ALL BY THEMSELVES (that is, without any intelligent guidance) is contrary to the well-proven Second Law of Thermodynamics, and the fundamentals of Information Theory. The universe is known to be "running down" yet evolution postulates it is "building up". Atoms to people evolution is much more a "religious belief" than a scientific fact.I know its not really a question. but I just thought it was interesting =]hmm... ok, no need to get your panties in a bunch everyone. I didnt make these paragraphs up.I guess I forgot everyone here is super scientists..... my bad :Ssince no one really has a concept of how long millions and millions of years really are, how can scientists be so sure? I'm being serious here (for a change 8-). But, really; why do you all get so upset when someone questions your "faith"?I mean, I have fun razzing you all but I never actually get UPSET by your attitudes, I just have trouble with the way you think. So, please, explain to me in detail why such - as I see it - nonsensical drivel is so important to you? What makes you put the belief in an ethereal being above everything else in your life?I never have been able to understand why so many religious people get so upset about this and why so many will even kill to support this. Are our brains wired differently? You DO get upset; you say that we will "burn in hell" or suffer damnation and so on and so on... really, I mean it, please explain the REAL reason you get upset about with people who question your faith, not "because you're making fun of me" or whatever, but HWY making fun of you makes you so so angrY???No, no REAL answers yet. I don't want to know that you "...feel the presents (sic) of god..." or some other thing you learned by rote - I want to know why, personally, religion is so much more important than anything else? Why do you get so blasted angry about it all? Why are you so touchy about it? Since when do the people at a "Celebrity Roasting" get angry about jibes? Come on, people!!

Open Question: Atheists do you agree...
Religion and those who follow it threaten humanity and the very planet we live on. It has delayed human advancement on this planet over 600 years. More wars have been fought and more people have died over superstitious religious beliefs than for any other reason.Since 911 the threat to us all has grown from Islam and in response, Christianity. We are now near a time when we must ask ourselves if religious tolerance and unchecked freedom of religion are worth it or whether it must be controlled or completely removed for the good of us all. Do you as an atheist agree?Lime Uncut - You said Education is the solution to fundamentalism. Now I didn't said how religion could be controlled. Education is of course the key, but you have to ensure that they do get educated, right. It's hard enough getting evolution in and keeping creationism / I.D. out of the classroom.

Open Question: Those of you who are...
I don't understand why Mccain is so great. I'm not taking a jab at him. I just really want to know. I'm young you see, I'm only a sophmore in highschool. I'm just curious. From my point of view, Mccain will only bring despair to my family. My dad's in Iraq for the 3rd time, my grandma's dying and can't get health insurance (if she could get it though, she would live longer.), my cousins are almost in poverty, I don't know if I'll have the same opportunity at an education as my grandparents did, and my mom is always complaining about gas. If Mccain isn't going to fix any of these major issues, why vote for him? No need to be rude, I just want your answer. Why are you voting for him? What is he going to fix? You say he has more experience, but his VP has about as much, if not less than Obama. And Obama's VP has as much experience as Mccain. So aren't the duos about equal when it comes to experience? I also noticed people saying that Obama was taking too long to choose his VP, and he was being dramatic about it too. But Mccain chose his VP weeks after Obama, AND he said who he chose around the day of Obama's speech. Yet, you won't say that he's being dramatic? And I also have to ask, Republicans are supposed to be the side with morals right? Well, if Republicans are so moralistic, shouldn't they hold up all (Christian) religious beliefs and not just a few? Sure, they don't agree with abortion (which I feel, by the way, shouldn't be a political issue-- It's between the pregnant woman and God), but then they don't want to help anyone out?-- It's pull yourself up by your own boot straps isn't it? That's not very Christian like.Burke...shut up. You're so hypocritical. I bet you were going for Mccain because he had experience right? Well, maybe Obama wanted the same thing- a little bit of experience on his side. Some of you people will just say anything. Will you open your eyes and see that this isn't Mccain against Obama, it's Bush against Obama? What the hell is wrong with you?I know I'm adding details again, but I just wanted to say, that I understand it isn't the governments responsibity to take care of my family. But when it is THE GOVERNMENTS FAULT that a family is in turmoil, of course THEY SHOULD FIX IT. The doctor says my grandma is sick because of stress (my dad, her son, going to war), plus, gas and taxing takes a lot out of what my dad makes. Do you think it's fair to mess up someone's life and then say "Ah come on, be independent, pull yourself up by your own bootstraps." I rather have Obama, because he's been on both sides of the fence. He isn't just some rich guy who's had his hand in the oil business for the past 26 years. Oh, and I know I said I'm young, but that doesn't mean I'm stupid. No one TOLD me it was the governments fault. You think I'm too young to put things together?I know I'm adding details again, but I just wanted to say, that I understand it isn't the governments responsibity to take care of my family. I'm a liberal, I'm trying to understand what kind of a lifestyle and culture do most republicans have. From what I've seen and heard before, I guess most republicans are religious (mostly conservative), wait for sex until marriage, some of them don't believe in divorce, a little too patriotic (this one is subjective though). If you're a republican, can you tell me about your lifestyle and beliefs -both political and social. You don't have to be a republican to answer the question, if you know a republican very close, you can also answer.Don't tell me I'm wrong on my observations. Tell me what kind of a lifestyle you have :-)Serious, mature answers please. Don't act like I said something bad about republicans, read the question carefully.
Open Question: Aliens: A theological...
Well, I'm an atheist, and I came to the conclusion quite some time ago that, statistically speaking, there's an almost certain probability that there has to be sentient extra terrestrial life. It's called the 1% rule:If you take 1% of all the galaxies in the universe (.01), and you take 1% of those galaxies to solar systems in some fashion like ours(.0001), and 1% of those solar systems have planets (0.000001), and 1% of those planets have water (.00000001)(1*10^-8), and 1% of those planets with water are a decent enough distance from their sun to not burn all bio organic material instantly and not so far away that the entire planet is only just barely above absolute zero(1*10^-10), and only 1% of those planets COULD support life (1*10^-12), and only 1% of those actually DID develop life (1*10^-14), and only 1% of those developed intelligent life (1*10^-16), then you are left with literally billions and billions of planets in this universe with intelligent life on them. Trillions! Quadrillions! (I'm going to stop making up words now.)And that's a worst case scenario. (The worst case being the least life in this universe. Probability is actually about 8 to 10% based off of our own solar system, and our neighbours.)Anyway, that's where my own belief comes from. What a really want to know here is:Atheists, what are your beliefs, and where do they come from? Why do you believe that?Christians, what are your views on this? Does the bible forbid it?All other religious folk, what about you? Does anything forbid it, or guarantee it in your faith?I want to know first your personal beliefs on the existence of extraterrestrials, supported by theological or logical reasoning. But, most importantly, do you think it's possible, a certainty, and impossibility? For all the Christians, would you kindly quote the scriptures that lead you to believe what you believe? And, if you're willing, explain how you drew your conclusion from those scriptures, such as I explained my conclusion above?

Resolved Question: ATHEISTS: What...
Before you read any further, note that I am atheist (well, more agnostic) and I am not trying to slam anyone here so DO NOT assume please.Christians or any other religious folk sometimes will attempt to convert others with good intention (most of the time). I think they are just trying to help others into heaven and not see them burn in hell. And although I don't really believe that will happen, I still think they have good intentions. In your opinion, what would be a good reason behind educating someone about your beliefs and trying to get them to "come to their senses" so to speak? Sort of like, converting them I guess? This is mostly for atheists. Theists can answer, just be nice please.
Resolved Question: Picking and...
Okay, this is directed more towards atheists who take the position I'm about to describe (though feel free to answer if you're not). Said atheists claim that that [the more humanistic] theists ignore the parts of the bible that are anti-humanist (prejudices against homosexuals, etc.) and only hold regard for the parts that are humanistic (brotherhood of man). Anyway, said atheists claim the latter position (the theistic one) is irrational, and I can understand that. However, when you look deeper into the history of the Bible, and at what it's components are, you can see that the latter position actually does makes sense. My reasoning is, that first of all, only up until the last few decades, in the western world, things such as homosexuality were seen as taboo, while things like racism, chauvinism, and intolerance of other beliefs were the norm and this system of society goes back to the dawn of man. So, it's obvious that this [primitive] way of thinking, as the social norm, would influence religion. So basically, unless God sat down and wrote every single word in the Torah, It's needless to say that when it was written, It could have corrupted by it's authors, or, it could have been corrupted by the jewish religious hierarchs over time (in fact, I think that it is extremely unlikely that such an enormous influence to thinking was never corrupted), the former and the latter holding those primitive ways of thinking. Meanwhile, the New Testament (the core of christianity) is composed of three parts. The gospel, the letters from the disciples, and Revelations. Now, the gospel is nearly flawless when it comes to brotherhood and peace, and if there are any exceptions, they may have been corrupted (one case, though not an actual change to the Bible, was the myth that the prostitute who washed Jesus' feet was Mary Magdalene, a deliberate chauvanist move by the Pope, made without any evidence whatsoever in the Bible that it was true (it was a rumor, and it persists even today)). I'm sure the letters contained some unreasonable things, but, the disciples themselves were jews, who followed the teachings of the Old Testament, and so their thoughts would have been corrupted by it. And finally, Revelations, possibly the most contrevesial book in the Bible, has some rediculous things in it, but lets not forget, that the early church, when putting the Christian Bible together, had to make some tough descisions about wich end times prophetic work was the correct one (there was more than one after all), and they chose the one that made the most sense to themselves, so basically since Revelations can not be confirmed as the true word of God, it need not be mentioned as what is religous truth and what is not. Well, that sums up the prelude to my question, my actual question is- does the high rate of corruption of the Bible, perticulary the Old Testement, as a result of religous hierarchs' own moral corruption rationalize the system of "picking and choosing" wich parts of the Bible make sense and wich don't based on the perticular beleiver's own conceptions? And, do you think that this theory (that the word of God has been corrupted enough for all of it's anti-humanistic teachings to be questionable for authenticity) is likely, or not?

My account was supsended yesterday and I felt very bad about it. Maybe I was too harsh and direct, but I just really wanted to get some answers that I have been wondering about.I know wonder what is legal to say here as a Christian and what not. My answers were direct, but not insulting at all. I am just talking about the work of the lord. How can one answer questions and ask questions, and still speak the truth without getting suspended? Obviously my questions will offend non-christians, but should they also open their hearts to my beliefs and the possibility that God loves them? Well my IQ is much higher than that! You are talking nonsense! Hope you are just kidding?Do can you assume that Yahoo is very strict about conduct. I dont want to be suspended again and would appreciate some pointers.Patricia, why do you say I continue to lie. I am being open and honest, I am a Christian Girl, I dont lie, I speak the word of God. Tell me where I lied and I will ask for forgiveness. You however are just saying that to make me feel guilty about my religion!Thank you Magick Kitty. I will keep that in mind.Patriot H - How can I delete that question. I feel bad about it now?

I'm a Christian myself and I was just noticing how in the world most of the time- Christians get more persecuted alot more than most other religions (Jews get persecuted alot though too). I personally don't understand why that is. Like I bet if a Islam dude went to school, and prayed (not preachful praying but just doing one of his daily prayers that his religion requires him to do) the school wouldn't get upset, but if a Christian were to pray for his food at lunch- privately - someone might sue him... You know what I mean right? Just in general, also in media, Christians are always made to look the stupid over-the-top religious freaks, and that portrays a really different picture than what we believe in :-). I'm just curious why this is? What is it that makes people so offensive to the idea of a Christian belief? Enlighten me. And I'm sorry, I didn't mean really persecution, I meant more just like the general bad attitude... :)And yes I understand you guys who are talking about being under attack is a good thing showing that we are doing His work. :) I'm just asking more of a atheists / non christian view on why the majority of the world seems to pick on Christians. And about the cases where kids get in trouble for praying in school- it's true, I honestly can't give you evidence, but my pastor and stuff I've heard stories of it before. Sure it's second hand information but I wouldn't doubt their word.Truth is, media plays down that 'we allow it' but in reality people don't....(Hehe I'm going to get hateful remarks, aren't I?)Oh yeah, and I don't live in the US, I'm American but I live overseas in Africa...
Open Question: Hell? Will all...
Really seriously i want to know from Christians.. How many people believe in Hell? As a real place where you are burned for eternity. And question 2 do you think that people with other religious beliefs that dont believe in God and are good people will go to Hell?
Open Question: If there is no God, I...
You guys come in here talking nothing but negative talk when people tell you about their lives. you judge them and you criticize them. that proves that the devil exist. Just because something may not have worked out for you what gives you the right to judge people who tell you what they experience. If you have nothing nice to say, then stay out of the religious room and keep your comments to yourself. foolish people talk about stuff they know nothing about. foolish people talk with so much hate that it's ridiculous. If anything go look in the mirror and judge yourself because rather you believe God exist or not, you are the one who is living a miserable life to judge people and down those who do believe. l am not the one who is miserable. I'm not the one who is judging or condemning others because l lack full understanding of the word. so instead of downing people for their belief, give them something to cheer about, not tear them down. the devil is ticked off and want God people to be miserable like self. that is how l know the devil exist. the bible speak about him and you negative folks do the same thing he does. Repent you hypocritical serpents, repent for the remission of sins.
Open Question: Do you think many...
Atheists don't believe in God and don't follow any religion because ...1. There's no solid evidence that God exists, so atheists don’t feel the need to believe that b/s in the Bible, Qur’an, etc when there's no proof or real evidence that a higher being exists. 2. They believe it's ridiculous to believe in a fairytale like God that watches over us when again, there’s no proof. 3. Many atheists might think that religious people lack intelligence and/or are insecure with their own life, thus they resort to believing in a higher power which has no proof of existence. 4. Many atheists may be atheists because they were turned off by the actions and words of many hateful and ignorant religious people. That’s all understandable, and they have the right to their opinion, but most atheists are just as wrong as religious people when it comes to telling us what happens when we die. Religious people insist they know what happens when they die, most insist that we will go to heaven and live happily ever after (but only if we didn‘t sin!). Atheists insist they know what happens when we die, which is … nothing. They insist that there is no God or any type of spiritual being, no afterlife, we just die, that’s it, no more to it, end of the line, rotting in the soil for eternity. That’s wrong because they insist they know EXACTLY what happens to humans when they die. But how can an atheist know that when they’ve never died, just like, how can a Christian know what happens when we die, when they’ve never died themselves? The ONLY people who know what happens when we die, are people who are dead! No one reading this question is dead, so how can any of you tell me or anyone else, exactly what happens when we die? It’s just as wrong as a Christian telling me that I’ll go to hell when I die for not submitting to their beliefs. I know that not all atheists are that specific about what happens we humans die, but many are. That’s hypocrisy. So if you're an atheist and you believe that when we die, we just die and there’s no more to it, not even a chance of there being some sort of after life, can you please give me proof? Solid evidence? The solid evidence that you often ask religious people to present when saying that God is real? "you're supposed to give proof for afterlife... you're the hypocrite here."But Mr.Smile I never stated there is an afterlife. My point is that no one alive, including atheists, knows exactly what happens when we die. Your vision of afterlife is most likely the fairytale afterlife Christians often talk of, but what makes you think that's exactly what afterlife would be if there is one? How do you know what will happen when YOU die? You don't."The only thing that you should expect atheists to be consistent at is the disbelief in god(s). Belief in afterlife/aliens/evolution/big bang/etc are not necessarily relevant."Unknownymous, that's very true, but most many atheists bring up that issue a lot and state that when we die we just die and nothing else happens because they don't believe in God, which is why those atheists, are hypocrites.

Which pillar of religious moral dogma do the following stem from:Witch trials with innumerable people killed (Height of ignorance from a Divine source of 'enlightenment" and cruelty of the highest order)The Inquisition9/11---Religion has led to multiple mass murders and it never seems to end... and even today we empower the same institutions that have simply deprived children of parents and parents of children. What is it in the lack of belief (atheism) that might drive people to mass murder people? Nothing.Your thoughts.fmko:Your ignorance is awe-inspiring. The estimated number of people who died in witch trials is between 40,000 and 60,000.
Open Question: What is an American?
Does a legal document stating you are an American citizen really make you one? What is an American exactly? I believe an American is a human being looking past their skin color, ethnicity, religious beliefs, and so on. In life you take on challenges and overcome your goals. Goals as in Dreams and being an American would mean you have the desire to reach it. Is this a good introduction? Reword it? Im having a bit of trouble..
Open Question: How did your beliefs...
If you have religious beliefs, is it the one you were raised in? Or did you do some soul searching to find the right match? Or did you reject indoctrination altogether?
Open Question: How close minded are you?
OK. I just want to see does everyone think the same. Be honest with your answer. Here it is:I am not a religious person. I do not believe in Jesus christ or the Holy spirit or God. I do not believe in the Devil. I do not believe in Heaven. I have my own beliefs which revolve around what I think.I am not Christian. I do not believe what Christians believe. I think the bible is a load of bull. I am not atheist. I do not believe in their concepts, the way they think, etc. I am not Wiccan. I do not believe in satanism. I am me. I believe in what I believe in.I don't believe in God. I do believe there is a higher person. God didn't make me, my pedophile dad and druggie mom did. I do not believe in prayers. I do not believe in spells. I do not think I should worship anybody. I do what I have to do and I live for no one. I do not believe there is a heaven, I do not believe there is a hell. I believe something happens when you die, but I don't think it's reincarnation or heaven or hell. I'm smart enough to know right from wrong. I don't think having sex is bad. I think if you want something o happen hard enough it will. I believe there are aliens. ETC. I believe a lot of things, but not what you believe in.
Open Question: Help me to understand....
to say they will never have an abortion. If 'conservatives' get their way and outlaw abortion like Governor Palin would like to see happen, what happens to the choice for pro-choice people? Why do republicans want to take my ability to choose away in favor of their religious and moral beliefs that they want to impose upon me?I'm fifty five and male. I don't have unwanted babies anywhere but thanks for your concern.
Open Question: Has anybody else seen...
I'm interested to see how many people still believe in their faith after watching. Everytime I ask this question, people who are really religious always become more defensive then necessary.I mean, I'm not Satanic, and I believe in a higher power, but not God.I respect everyone elses beliefs.I just feel like the people who become over defensive are too afraid to face the challenge of people questioning their religion. People question religion all the time.Christian's and Catholics question Buddahs and Mohammad. So why aren't we allowed to question your God?
Open Question: Pagans: how would...
If you were invited to dinner at the home of a couple you barely knew (not well enough for you to know the religious beliefs of each other) and when it came time for the meal to be served your host said a Christian prayer asking God to bless the food, and all at the table. How would you handle this situation? Would this bother you, would it keep you from eating? Would you say something or keep quiet? Considering your gods, your beliefs, and your ethics, what would you do?
Open Question: May move far for work,...
Well, I've started to look for a new job. I moved into this area two years ago and have been very miserable. While I am trying to find something close, I am really wanting to find a job back in the Midwest, nearer to where my family is.Problem is, that I have a girl that I plan to marry here. This wouldn't be too much of a problem, but she does not believe in cohabitation because of her religious beliefs and lives with her parents. She's 26, I'm 31 and we currently live in Virginia. She's about all I have out here, otherwise, I feel like this place is killing me.I'm looking at a job in Missouri and she doesn't like it. I'm trying to make her understand, but I don't think she gets it. I really want to make things work, but at the same time, I have to get paid more and need to be somewhere I can feel comfortable.Since I'm potentially moving 14 hours away, I'm wondering what I can do to make this relationship work. She is working on a masters degree and says she would look for a job in the same city as me. I just wonder how we can keep things going until then and what may make it easier.

Open Question: Sensible...
There are a lot of immature people in the religious section that are here just to argue. However, I know that are are also some sensible people, even if they don't agree with my beliefs. What is the biggest thing that keeps you from considering devotion to Christ?

Open Question: In your opinion, what...
I've noticed that what I deem prudish can easily be seen as a good moral value to another person. I would like to hear your views on this subject, and if you feel that your spiritual/religious views (or lack thereof) have anything to do with how you perceive it. I mean this respectfully, as I am sure that we all define it based on our personal beliefs.
Open Question: Why do Religious...
When they constantly try to force their beliefs and views on us? If they kept to themselves fine, but they don't. They try to put their biblical laws in everything, force their way of life on all of us, and condemn us to their non-existant hell. Not to mention the horrible history religion has of killing and going off to war in the name of their God. How many scientific discoveries has religion hindered? So why shouldn't I complain when someone keeps trying to shove their beliefs in my face?Did I say all? Seriously grow a brain, it's never all of anything... Same old complaints. If you can't answers the question then don't bother replying.
Resolved Question: If you're against...
Please don't give your religious beliefs as an answer because we're talking about laws (secularism, remember?)I can't understand why someone's love life would bother someone else. Homosexuality is not a new thing, my friend.None of the answers explain why someone else's personal life bothers you? It's not like you're going to marry to someone from the same gender. There are homosexuals in the world, there has always been. I think it's their right to have the marriage optionProstitution: A choice, an illegal act.Homosexuality: Not a choice, it's about hormones.Marriage was defined as "for a man and a woman" true. That's how it was in history. At this point I want to remind you black people had no rights and was seeing as second class citizens in America in the past. That was also a shame and thankfully, they changed it.The one who compared gay relationships to having sex with a dog, go should see a doctor.
Open Question: Theists, if there was...
Long question! The first few paragraphs are background info, see final paragraphs for the actual question. Hang in there!I read an interesting article some time ago called Gods and Science. The article brought up an interesting point that I had not been aware of: There is a specific part of the brain, the frontal lobes, which is active during religious experiences. The author's proposed purpose of this part of the brain was that it gave us Darwinian impulses (nothing to do with evolution, take it easy!), which are higher-level impulses rather than the eat/sleep/mate impulses of animals. What does this have to do with religion? The frontal lobes are an inner voice that tell us how to behave, and are responsible for making decisions that do not benefit us in the short run, but do in the long run, like going to the bathroom, going to the grocery store, and being religious. Some believe, right or wrong, that these impulses can be consciously recognized in times of increased frontal lobe activity (quiet meditative moments and in panicked, traumatic instances), and are often interpreted as instructions from a higher being: Messages from God.In a sensory deprivation tank, all sensory stimulus is cut off to the body. You are suspended in liquid which is exactly body temperature, it is completely dark, and the tank is soundproofed. It is basically a waking coma. During this process, the frontal lobes become greatly stimulated, and it is common to have visions or hallucinations, most often of a religious nature.Phineas Gage was a demolitions worker in the mid-19th century, and in 1848 an explosion drove a steel rod through his head, which damaged or destroyed his frontal lobes. As a result, his personality drastically changed. He showed signs of low-level sociopathy, he became less methodical and more reckless, and became an atheist.Anyway, all of this is to say that the frontal lobes seem to contribute directly to a person's belief in God, as well as some other personality traits. The authors described it as a "little man behind the curtain" telling us what to do for our own long-term benefit, rather than instant gratification. This suggests to me that a drug could be developed that would anesthetize the frontal lobes, thus temporarily causing someone to stop believing in God. This would only be temporary, like taking an aspirin. Theists, would you do this to better understand the lives of atheists? This assumes that when the drug wore off, you would go back to belief as you did before.Atheists: This also suggests that a stimulant could be made to excite the frontal lobes and cause a person to become religious. Would you do this, to experience what the theists feel?Agnostics, would you try both types of pills? After experiencing each side, would you continue taking the pills if one made you happier than the other?Theists, one final question--what if you took the stimulant pill, in effect making you more religious, and you found your beliefs were different than when you weren't on the pill? Would you try to keep those beliefs after the pill wore off?The sensory deprivation tank data suggests that if you took enough stimulant pills, you would have a religious vision. Assuming this would not endager you or permanently alter you in any way, would you try this? Theists? Agnostics? Atheists?Anyway, I know that's a long question. Best points to the most specific and best-thought-out response. Please specify yourself as a theist/agnostic/atheist if your answers don't make it plainly obvious already.Really, answer the questions. I have no interest in irreverent commentary which boil down to "God doesn't exist" or "God is love!"And, keep in mind, taking the pill is not going to cause God to exist or no longer exist. This isn't a trick question.
Open Question: Do you all agree on this?
Regardless of our religious beliefs or lack of them, we all want to live in peace and be happy, so shouldn't we put our differences aside and just help each other?!I've been smoking( tobacco not other things) and having a few beers and thinking about life, well wouldn't it make more sense?
Open Question: Religion and...
I am currently talking with someone that holds very strong religious beliefs. We have talked about dating, but his view is that his partner should hold just as strong views as him, to help him raise children equally. If only one is religiously strong, that one will get tired sooner and the strength of God and all that will not be reinforced through the family. Obviously I am not religious by any means. Sure, I have beliefs, but not in a higher power. I do not think any less of him because he has faith and a strong network in his church. I was not raised in the church, nor have I ever felt like my life is lacking something because God was missing. The meat of this question is do you think it is possible for a religious person and non religious person make a relationship work?
Open Question: why do people...
ok why is it that when conservative's object stricker gun control and use the reason that it was an admendment that our founding father's wanted us to have and needed. Yet these same people say that we should teach the bible in our public schools and completely ignore the fact that our founding father's came to this country to escape religious presecution and be able to have the right to choose their religious beliefs. Yet these people who are so gung ho on having the right to carry a gun around want the 10 commandments displayed in public government buildings and schools. just wondering

It's a year on Monday since I had mine.I'm in such a state and I am finding it hard to cope.I kno that I made the right decision, if you knew my life a year ago and the life that baby would have come into you probably would still judge me. I couldnt let a child be born into a life where its father had psycosis and would hit and tourture me mentally every day. Where I could barely have the courage to leave the confines of my bedroom let alone give it a suitable up bringing.Trust me it killed me to make the decision, my partner (ex now) made it together we went back and forth evrey day. We knew what we had to do, but we let ourselves have those days where we could live the fantasy and pretend that our lives werent what they were and we could bring the child up healty and safe.If you ahve had an abortion, how long has it been? Do you feel better each time it comes around. Not rbeak down and fall apart at the seems. It doesnt help that I'm going to see my nephew tomorrow, who was have been born a month after mine would have been. I'm sorry I needed to vent, to try and explain how I'm feeling and kno that there areothers out there that can relate and share my anguish.I also relaise that I may get a lot of abuse from this question and I ask you to keep your opinions to yourself. I am no monster. I am not religious and I was a pro lifer and still am. Your critisms will not help me or other only offend and that is not what answers is about. I respect your beliefs but if you are about not causing pain and suffering than you will realise I am not in a state to handle your anger as well as my hurt and will not critise my actions. Thanks for reading.
