Philosophy homework:A village is located near a river. Some bussiness-men want to build a hydroelectric dam in the river, for these reasons: it'd generate jobs and income for many people, it's a renewable energy source which doesn't damage the environment much, & it'd contribute to the sustainable development of the village. Ecologists oppose to them, presenting these matters: there are really ancient trees in the area and a species in risk of extinction, the ecosystem would be severely damaged and affecting close zones too. Tourists complain about losing a great place for a picnic and practising extreme sports, plus the damage it'd do to economy, which is based partly on tourism. Finally, scientists claim that the area is not fully explored yet. What do you think, should this hydroelectric dam be built? Which measures are they taking at the moment in order to reduce the environmental impact?

Pre-Alexander/pre-Hellenistic Greek history is dominated by two wars: the Persian Wars and the Peloponnesian Wars. Even the ancient Greeks saw their own history so, with Herodotus writing about the first and Thucydides (and Xenophon) writing about the second. One of these wars might be characterized (from the Greek standpoint) as a "success story," but the other was a tragedy. Discuss how each war significantly altered the direction of Greek history, both political and social. Be clear -- I'm not asking you about the wars themselves, I'm asking you about their results . . . their impact on larger Greek culture. (Hint: you may want to consider such things as relative political power for various poleis, philosophy, history, attitudes towards non-Greeks, farming economics, and mercenaries

Resolved Question: Summer Homework...
So for my summer homework (well part of it) I have to write about my favorite Philosophy of the school. BUT honestly i'm not such a big fan of any of them I don't want to lie on my first day of seventh grade. How do I decide? P.S. The choices are between Compassion, Collaboration, Academic Rigor, Diversity and Pluralism. Please do not tell me which to choose based on which one you like more. Thanks! And i'm not going to choose something just because the teacher wants it, if they are asking an opinion, I WILL GIVE A true OPINIONand just about half my school is asian :P
Resolved Question: What career path...
I am going into grade 12 and as many others my age, I am quite frustrated and confused about choices that soon must be made about my future. I'm an average student, not really exceling in anything. I've been able to maintain an 80 average and plan to work hard to achieve that again for this year. I was thinking of staying an extra year to spread my courses out more, but I think I really just want to get it over with and I am just taking subjects that are prerequisites for univercity/collage. [functions, physics&chem&bio, philosophy and english] + two spares to do all my ****ing homework... no life for me the next 10 months! I'm not interested in going right into school talking courses I'm not even sure I will be needing for my future, I don't have the money to do that. I was thinking seriously about taking a year or more to just travel overseas and work; hoping I'll figure it out with time. But on the other hand, getting back into school after such a break must be tough. I am just looking for advice, perhaps by some people who shared the same anxieties before!FWI... I have thought about persueing a medical career, but I'm not sure I have the smarts or grades for that and am unsure of the over load of hours doctors put in. Also, when I was little, I always said I wanted to be an astronaut... but yeahh don't think that's in my cards lol.

so i was doing some philosophy homework and i was actually writing an essay question on Zoroastrain eschatology, when i saw this link to purgatory.. i click on it, and although purgatory is obviously a Christian/Catholic belief i began to start thinking about "the light" that you hear about from people who have near-death experiences. of course in philosophy you learn about many religions, so as i was pondering...this random thought hit me.what if that so called "light" isn't the light of God or Heaven or whatever, but instead *drum roll*......rebirth?i don't mean to cause controversy or anything, but it's an interesting thought and i was just wondering if it's already been thought of (which i'm sure it has)... and if it indeed has, what it's called or whatever. i actually find the idea fascinating now even though i am in fact a Christian, the thought is just intriguing. *shrugs* =]

In a college homework assignment I had to define the 4 marketing management philosophies and provide an example of a company that successfully follows each one and why. Here is a copy of the definitions that i have so far provided...Production Orientation – Focuses on internal capabilities of a firm to achieve lower prices for consumers. It assumes that price is the critical variable in the purchase decision. Sales Orientation – A sales orientation assumes that buyers resist purchasing items that are not essential and that consumers must be persuaded to buy.Marketing Orientation – is based on an understanding that a sale predominantly depends on the customer’s decision to purchase a product and on the customer’s perception of the value of that product. Responsiveness to customer wants is the central focus of the marketing orientation.Societal Orientation – holds that the firm should work towards satisfying customer needs and wants while meeting organizational objectives and preserving or enhancing both the society’s and individual’s long-term best interests.I just need help with examples please. I can't find anything on google. Also if you can give me an example and tell me why the company uses that orientation it would be greatly appreciated.

OK,,,It's like the first week of classes in college, and Friday will be the third day of class in my philosophy class. On Wednesday, (the 2nd day of class), we had to pair up in groups and talk to each other, and I was paired up with two other chicks, who I think both like me. I really want to ask one of them out, cuz i think both would be fun to be with. BUT,,,,,,,,I'm a really shy guy. I dont even go to parties or really do anything fun. An ideal weekend for me would be eating some good food, working out, reading a good novel, and getting super-caught up on my homework........which isn't really compatible with a gf....SO im thinking about asking one of the girls out...maybe for a dinner Friday night?........and Im thinking about doing it by like ,,when the class starts, I slip her a note that says,,,,"Hey would you like to hang out some time?"Does anyone think this is out of place and/or stupid?SO please, please help me out yahooers, every comment would be appreciated :)

Rather than elevate the Third World, they want to move us closer to Third World conditions. That’s somehow cleaner, purer. I'm not asking anyone to do my homework for me. This is my actual thesis statement, and I would like someone (or someones) to point out why I am a sallow mooncalf before my professor does. If you could point to sources, that would be great too. Although Enlightenment political theory- due in part to the heavy emphasis on Classicism in early modern European education- was infused with Classical ideals, and although it based its philosophies in their models, this concentration was to a large degree limited to relationships within an ideal society. With respect to the relationships between societies- both ideal and flawed- however, Classical theory went largely undeveloped by Enlightenment thinkers.

Resolved Question: Is RE actually...
In my school it is compulsory that we do coursework and GCSE exams in RE (Philosophy and Ethics) and I'm especially annoyed because our RE teacher is so strict, she gives us detentions if we don't bring homework in, even if it is the first time we haven't brought in homework. It's just so annoying that she treats it as if it's such an important subject that we should be punished if we don't do our work (to be honest, she's a pretty hypocritical RE teacher if she's so mean, she obviously doesn't care about RE herself, she probably doesn't believe in God)Anyway, I'm just wondering - what jobs would actually require you to have RE GCSE qualifications? Or how can it help you in any way to just sit there typing up stuff from a sheet she gave us which isn't even our own work, and it's meant to be coursework! She probably just can't be bothered to teach us anything. Grr!i try really hard and I came out with a C on the exam, and a D on my report, even though they put I try really hard. I don't think I'm doing this badly, but apparently they think I do, even though I do all the work!I'm getting As and Bs in English, why am I so bad at RE even though I work really hard and write loads! It isn't fair, because everyone else is getting A*s and I swear they're not THAT much better than me at it. I think it is cos my teacher hates me so much.

Resolved Question: Art or philosophy?...
I don't know wether to go to art school or philosophy. I can get a full scholarship to art school, but I feel like I don't need to go, the only thing I would really learn is some techniques in painting, but I've managed on my own. I'm afraid me going to art school will mold my nature. ON the other hand, I absolutely love philosophy, it completely absorbs me inside and out, I would love to go and learn from philosophy, but my grades in school are bad, they're only bad 'cause I"m so called "lazy", I have bad grades 'cause I don't do my homework, but tests I do well in. I'd rather go to philosophy and have art as a hobbie, but should I even bother? Would they accept me for philosophy with like a possible D , few C's, and few A's? OR should I just stick with art, scince I already know it? I'd love philosophy, really, but what would you do in my position???? Advice is extremely beyond appreciated, you have no idea!! Resolved Question: Teachers: Where...
My kids will start kindergarten next year, and I'm completely overwhelmed by school choice. My own public school experience was not great, so I'm struggling with trying to decide between public or private. The public school in our district is highly regarded; however, I'm concerned that the higher student-teacher ratios and the demands of NCLB might leave my kids less creative, less curious, and less in love with learning than they are now, as preschoolers. How important are class size, student-teacher ratios? Are they worth a private school price tag?How about a developmental philosophy (vs. more traditional programs)? I'd love a curriculum that really challenges my kids, but in creative ways, and doesn't overwhelm them with lots of homework. To high school teachers, where do the most creative, well-prepared, well-adjusted kids come from? Where would you send your own kids? Thanks for your thoughts.

I have recieved a Office Depot Gift card from my former school teacher in a letter. How do I thank her?I have recieved a letter from my former school teacher, we have been mailing each other for like 10yrs and this letter & a card that I have just recieved this June.In the card it had a Office Depot Gift Card .I dont know how I'm supposed to write a thankyou letter, also since I dont want to write anything that I would sound greedy. Here's what I wrote-Dear Mrs.Swedo,Hi, have received the Office Depot Gift Card in the mail & I want to thank you for your thoughtful generous gift card that I received from you! Since Fall semester classes are about to start and since I do have homework that I would need to print copies from the laptop & computer campus I have bought a package of CDs in order to be able to transfer my writings to my PC and be able to print, and love it.How are you doing? Well I hope that you and your family are doing fine, and are enjoying this summer. Well I’m doing well, and so is my family. Sorry that I didn’t get to mail you a letter sooner since I had lots of things going on this summer. Including first of all we got to go to Mexico for the 2nd time in 2 years to visit my other side of my family. We went on an airplane on a Friday and when before landing on Mexico City International airport we could here hail stones hitting the airplane it was raining with hail stones. The weather over there was nice especially early morning where it was 50.F and the afternoons the maximum temperature was 80-F unlike in Texas where it gets close to or more then 100-F .Also I enjoyed going to Mexico since I also took the break form this hot dry Texas weather.Another exciting thing for me that happened this summer was since I already have my 1994 Chevy berretta in good condition, and in need to be able to drive get around since I’ll transfer to a university also to make it more convenient to attend Collin college classes. I took my driving test, before taking the test I had to practice driving around the streets of The Colony. Then one day I went to take the driving test to get my driver’s license but failed the first time. Two weeks later after failing the driving test I retook the test and passed it the 2nd time. I was happy and glad that I got to pass it the second time, when I thought that I would to pass the driving tests the 3rd time for sure. Now that I have my driver’s license I sure do enjoy driving around The Colony, having the A/C turned on especially when it’s so hot outside. One of other things that I have done this summer was doing some yard work, chores, cleaning my room, searching jobs, and relaxing. By the way I have searched and found a job and maybe possibly get hired to work at a Gym center in The Colony, and the pay is $10.00 per hour, so I hope that I would hire to work. This year past fall and Spring Semester classes at Preston Ridge Campus CCCCD I took Sociology, English II & Philosophy class this last spring semester classes. Now that fall semester classes will start on Mon August 25th .I’m going to take 3 classes all in the morning hours one class Pre Algebra on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, in the mornings also US History class, and Speech on Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Also Mon August 25th will be the first day for school for my sister as well and my brother who is attending community college and will transfer to a University later.I plan to transfer to a university after I graduate from Collin County Community College, or when my GPA is high enough for University of North Texas to accept me also when I have a clear idea plan what career to pursue and my career choices are like two careers to choose from. I’m starting to have somewhat a clear idea on what career to pursue, maybe a dentist, or a climatologist etc...I hope that you and your family have had a good summer, and enjoying the fall and the coming holidays. Thanks again for the card, which was so thoughtful!Sincerely,XXXXXX XXXXXX

In this assignment, you will describe how philosophy is a response to Hegelian idealism by analyzing the key contributors and principle issues of the timeYes, I know this is for homework, but there's no need to pitch a fit and be rude to me, if you don't genuinely want to help me, please keep your unfriendly, negative comments to yourself. For all those who answer, thank you very much. I am having alot of trouble with this class and appreciate any help. Thanks again.
Resolved Question: A request to any...
See, I have my Philosophy exam in a week, and I could use a little help. In the Intelligent Design vs. Evolution essays that I have written I keep being told that I need to do both sides justice. Reading over them, I realise that I am a tad sketchy on ID arguments back to the evidence of evolution.I know the basics, of course, of Paley's teleological argument, but I suppose I need to hear it from some people with a passion for it. Which is where you guys come in!I'm sorry, because I often snap at people to "do your own bloody homework" and I know how irritating it can be, but I don't personally know any believers in Intelligent Design - I think it's rare in the UK, actually. So if you're willing to help, I'm willing to listen.I'm not asking for you to convert me, because I'm very much more interested in science, but I could certainly use some passionate ID responses to the problem of evolution. Thanks to anyone who's willing to help.Good day, everyone.Yachad, you seem to have completely misinterpreted the question. It is not a question of Creationism, it is ID vs. Evolution. Whether we were made perfectly and as we are, or if we got here through a slow process of evolution. Now, about my "conversion" comment, it too had nothing to do with Creationism. I am religious and interested in science. I am not interested in being converted to ID, because I am more interested in empirical proof. I apologise if my question made it seem a question of theism vs. atheism, because that's not the question posed. The question is, literally, Intelligent Design vs. Evolution.
