okay, so i have this group of friends, right?and one of my friends (who is like 105 lbs., healthy, for pete's sake, def not eating disorder prone or anything like that) is reading this book called "skinny b*tch".and all of my other friends are on her all the time with stuff like:"you should NOT be reading that book", "reading that is EXTREMELY unhealthy", "you're skinny already", etc.and when they talk to eachother, they're all like:"wow, i'm worried about her", "she really shouldn't be reading that book", etc.i personally think there is absolutley NOTHING at all wrong with my friend reading that book,it not a freaking guide to anorexia like they make it out to be.it gives you tips and ways to eat healthier,tells you when you eat junk food and fast food, what you're really putting into your bodyand gives you organic/vegetarian alternatives.please, what do you think about all of this?
My Daughter is allergic to cows milk and I am having trouble finding a dessert that she likes, just a little something for after lunch. She hates fruit and has turned her nose up at absolutely every combination I have come up with. Almost everything you can buy in a shop has some sort of milk in it so I wondered if any of you had any ideas on how I can make Rice Pudding without cows milk and with maybe goats milk or rice milk? It's not going to be a source of nutrition as I know that they are not meant to have it until they are over 1 as a drink but as an ounce in Rice Pudding, I wondered if this would be alright? I presume I just need to replace the cows milk with an alternative milk and go from there but if you've got any tips, I'd appreciate it.Thanks!
I would love to take my puppy with me when I visit the US over Christmas. I'll be gone about 3 weeks and hate the idea of him being in a strange kennel by himself for so long.I live in Brazil. I will fly Continental from Rio to Houston (no plane changes, direct 13-hr flight) and Macho the mutt have to fly cargo. Once he's in Houston, he'll stay there with us and family.He'll need a letter from a vet within 10 days of travel in both directions, health and rabies certificates approved by the USDA and Brazilian consulate, and a little more crate training before we can make this work.But from what I've heard the pick-up process going through customs is a huge hassle. And I'm not sure if the stress on my dog twice in one month is worth it. Any of you have experience traveling overseas (on vacation preferably) with your dog? What kinds of tips or suggestions can you give me? What alternatives do I have?PPP-PLEASE don't try to scare me too much about this. Macho will have to travel with us when we move away from Brazil eventually, at the very least. I get the point about voluntary travel, though. My life has just been down right DEPRESSING lately.We moved from Germany to Virginia mid-July and since then I've been dying for change.I had a major wardrobe change when we got here and try to wear as many bold colors as possible but I've found that it's getting harder to do due to the lack of INSPIRATION.I feel like I need something new to keep me afloat. Be it a haircut, tips for stuff to do, or just changing my bedroom. I have a Coke bottle (600ml) and I want to use it as a water bottle. I've been researching emancipation for the past year and a half , and I'm finally filing for it next year at the end of April. I'm pretty sure, I will be able to prove that I can not only support myself financially, but show that I will be better off without being in the home. I really would only like answers from people who have been emancipated, but you can also answer if you absolutely know what you are talking about. Things I need to know:- Grounds you used to do emancipation- The process[set-up of the hearing; how they do it]- If one parent MIGHT contest it[although has a record of abuse claims against him/her which i will NOT bring up; simply mention as a fact.]- Likelihood of being emancipated- What they really base it on- Tips on what I should do in the process of emancipation- How long I have to move out of the parent's home if granted- How long it would take to be accepted, and how long it takes to go in effect- Would it be granted if you present that:+ Moving to another city+ Job secured [with hypothetical figures to show how I would support myself]+ Proof of transportation+ Apartment secured+ School shown that I would attend+ All research done in regards to moving, every single detail mapped out+ Very mature+ Seeking in the best interest of education; environment at the current house conflicting with successfully finishing school- to fullest ability+ Letters from guidance counselors, people worked for, etc. saying what they see the situation as from the outside, and agreeing that emancipation would be best for me (in their own words of course) + Held a job before+ Been in boarding school {proof of ability to budget- including letter from woman in charge who has seen me deal with the money I made}+ Has had previous arrests, juvi time, but all in relation to problems with the issues in the house. Runaways on record, but completing last year of high school which is beyond doubt that could be done as well if I were not on my own. I will be 16 when filing. I have to hold my baby upright all day because of his acid reflux. I have taken him off of the medication (zantac) and am trying alternative methods to keeping that acid down in his stomach. I have slept the past 2 nights holding him up on my chest in the bed. Needless to say, I havent gotten much sleep at all. I cant figure out a way to keep my head and neck positioned. I have a neck pillow for use in the airplanes.. but that hasnt worked too well.Any one ever done this and do you have any tips that could help me. Holding him up all night really seems to be helping. And I would rather keep him off medication.

I live in England. My question has two elemnts.As far as I can figure, prison is traditionally supposed to be punitive. If you are not prepared to live by widely accepted social standards as a reasonable human being, respecting the rights of others and doing them no harm, you are removed from society as punishment. However, from many reports in the news and from personal experience of talking to ex-convicts and repeat offenders, prison life generally seems quite cushy (although I admit I would hate it myself). TVs and computer consoles being provided, gyms, regular meals etc etc. Prisoners claiming compensation for violations of their "human rights" thanks to European legislation that is so open to abuse/misuse. Open and readily available access to drugs...which leads me to my next point.Shouldn't prison be a place where rehabilitation is the key component? So many convicts are repeat offenders, proving that the system doesn't work. Shouldn't the emphasis be on trying to help people with drink, or drug, or psychological issues, so that they are fit and free to re-enter society upon release to fully enter society as a happy and productive member of society? I don't pretend to know how this could be accomplished, but for many people a first prison term seems only to serve to introduce them to other un-reformed criminals who can give them "tips" on how to commit crime, and introduce them to hard drugs which seem to be overlooked in many prisons in order to keep the crowded populace subdued.In my opinion prison should be more of a training centre: like educating a child in the ways of a responsible respectable human beings. Privileges should be minimal on entry, earned and built up through good behaviour and commitment to reform. Privileges removed for unacceptable behaviour, effectively educating the inmates that good behaviour is rewarded, privileges need to be earned as the rest of normal society does through hard work and patience.Thoughts please
