Before I ever heard the name Gore, I recycled and tried to be somewhat environmentally aware. I was careful when my car’s oil was changed, when we used yard bug killer etc.But once big mouth al came on the scene and the teachers started telling my kids that our family car was killing mother earth, that if we didn’t recycle our popcorn kernels the end would be near, I realized that yes there were issues, but that they had been hijacked by the loonies. Now I don’t do a thing. Not so much as one can back to the bin.Anyone else with the same attitude?

A grade three teacher is giving a lesson on nutrition, and she decides to ask her students what they had for breakfast. To add a spelling component, she asks the students to also spell their answers. Susan puts up her hand and says she had an egg,'E-G-G'.'Very good', says the teacher. Peter says he had toast. 'T-O-A-S-T'.'Excellent.'Johnny has his hand up and the teacher reluctantly calls on him.'I had fuck all', he says, 'F-U-C-K A-L-L'.The teacher is mortified and scolds Johnny for his rude answer.Later when the lesson turns to geography, she asks the students some rudimentary questions.Susan correctly identifies the Capital of Canada Peter is able to tell her which ocean is off Canada 's east coast. When it's Johnny's turn, the teacher r emembers his rude answer from the nutrition lesson, and decides to give him a very difficult question.Johnny, she asks, 'Where is the Pakistani border?'Johnny ponders the question and finally says, 'The Pakistani boarder is in bed with my mother. That's why I got fuck all for breakfast'.

I am 25 and female...This is something I have always wondered since I was a teenager... I have always found women attractive and have recently starting fantasizing in a sense. But there's still a large part of me where I can never really picture myself acting out these things. (Partly because I'm married and partly because I've never done it before.) When I really start thinking about this fascination and attraction to other women I sometimes wonder if what I really want is just their attention? Almost making up for the lack of affection I had as a child. I never really had strong female role models or mother figures (my mom was always too busy sorting out her own mess). I never had a whole lot of physical contact growing up. I'm usually attracted to motherly types and older teacher types. And it's usually someone I know and enjoy being around. I'm not at all trying to say that lesbians like women because their mothers weren't there for them. But has anyone else ever had this thought about themselves? That the attraction is more stemmed in wanting something you never got as a child? Wanting the affection or physical attention?

In my child's class there is a little girl that is gifted. She takes a 2 hour gifted class a day. Well, my child is friends with her and I am friends with her parents. I really like the little girl. My daughter has a 4.0 and is very well liked and well behaved but she isn't gifted (she is brilliant to me, though! hehe ). Anyway......In the class there are rules, obviously. If a child talks out of turn, laughs out loud or gets up without asking- they get their name on the board. This is all fine and I think the teacher is running her classroom well, with one exception. My daughter said just the other day she talked out of turn (to the teacher) without raising her hand and had to put her name on the board. She was fine with that. It didn't really bother her. But, a little while later the gifted child did the same thing over and over and the teacher thought it was funny. She says this happens daily. All the other kids get in trouble but this one child never does. My daughter actually raised her hand in class and said, "Why doesn't _______ get her name on the board but the rest of us do?" The teacher said, "_______ is gifted and is trying to expressing herself. It's different for her. No more questions."I don't want to get any child in trouble but I also don't want the teacher to make all the other kids feel like they aren't special, only one child is. There is a teacher meeting next week. I'm not sure whether or not to mention it. Like I said, I'm friends with that family and don't want to cause trouble. At the same time, I think discipline is good, if she is giving it to everyone. What would you do?

My classroom fish (I'm a first grade teacher) had babies. What is the best way to keep them safe? Should I keep them in the tank and hope they don't get eaten- or is that even a risk for baloon mollies? Or should I put them in a different container with water from the tank? My concern with that is that the water will not be getting filtered. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Additionally, if you believe that I need more than a manual to properly perform Tai Chi (ie a teacher), please let me know. Essentially, and guidance you can give would be much appreciated.

She did her normal thing and got in my truck gave me a kiss and then asked if she could see my skoal tin. I gave it to her figuring she would count them. Instead she took one out and put it in her mouth and said does this look hot to you. I didn't answer because it was no I asked her to take it out and asked for my tin back when she gave it to me I throw it out the window. I told her I was done. I stopped at the gas station and got some apple flavored jolly ranchers. All my guy friends are making fun of me telling me I'm Whipped. The jolly rancher thing seems to be working cause I chew apple skoal. My girlfriend seems to be a lot more happier also.My question is I still have 2 and a half hours left of school and I'm out of jolly rancher. What do I do?My friends keep showing me their tins and it's making me want to chew more then ever. But I don't want to.....I don't know if that makes any sense. Don't teacher usually have candy?

Not something boring like a artist's portrait or a town.Something that can make the audience think. But it should answer these two conditions:-Not so complex / the lecture is supposed to last 10 minutes at most.-It's for the English course of a German school. The topic/problem must be interesting for the pupils.Everyone had to give a lecture, and now it's up to me.I hope you have some sensible suggestions for me, thank you.

It seems everyone at my highschool hates me and I have no friends at all. I have people I mix with but they are all so nasty to me and it is like I am the joke of the group. Everything I do, people find out about. If I wear something I don't normally wear and do my hair in a different way, people laugh even though I know it looks nice. I don't really look that bad that people automatically laugh at me, but it is a joke around my year level. I had one best friend and she left because she had depression and could not handle school anymore, she was not happy. Since then I really have no friends to sit with at lunch or to talk to. Everytime I talk to someone or someone is nice to me, these girls who were nasty to me say I am desperate for friends and that once you are nice to her she won't stop hanging around you. They say this so I can hear and they must think I am dumb. Everytime I walk past most girls in my class they laugh hysterically to make me feel self conscious and the popular girls don't tease but really don't care two hoots about me. I am joining groups in lunch time to be more involved and to meet more people but that is affecting my school work. I try to go to the library and to the study hall but the kids there pick on me too. They comment if I am dressed differently and talk and whisper as if about me when I am trying to do my school work. They also make comments to me and about me when I am trying to read or study. It seems nobody in my class is mature and I want to be with someone who does not care about popularity but is just nice and grown up. My mom says I am very mature of how I am handling it and she is very proud of me. Another thing I feel a little embarrassed sharing- she has gone away to work because basically we need the money. She works a roster 6 hours drive away and lives there most days and comes home on her days off and whenever she can to check up on me, I am responsible for my own cooking, cleaning washing as well as home work and looking after the pets. It was mutual. I wanted her to go and she wanted to go too. Anyway, these people at school still have their mom to take care of them and I have told nobody. But it is a little hard as the situation at school is making me stressed and I have had a few sick days to catch up on homework. The teacher called me in and said she noticed I was stressed and asked me what was wrong and was I sick. I told her nothing. Anyway I am totally ignoring these girls but they go out of their way to tease me. This one girl when I was reading put her finger to my head and pretended to use it as a gun and said I am on the hit list. And this group of girls make comments about me saying I need a bullet and I should just commit suicide it would make their lives easier and that they hate me and wish they could shoot me. I do nothing to these girls. I don't even talk to them, but they keep talking about me as if I am not there and to annoy me and the more I ignore them the harder they try. I know this all seems so much to deal with but I am trying so hard to be positive. I am losing concentration with my school work though and my grades are slipping. Please help. Thanks for reading this far.

Little Johnny was in his 5Th grade class when the teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came up: Fireman, policeman, salesman, doctor, lawyer... Johnny was being uncharacteristically quiet, so the teacher asked him about his father. 'My father's an in a gay cabaret and takes off all his clothes in front of other men and they put money in his underwear. Sometimes, if the offer is really good, he'll go home with some guy and make love with him for money. The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some exercises and took little Johnny aside to ask him, 'Is that really true about your father?' No,' said Johnny, 'he works for the Bush administration, but I was too embarrassed to say that in front of the other kids.

i have 4 children. my oldest son has always had behavior problems at school since a teacher hit him purposely in his head several years ago. even though we took him out of that school and had words with the principle and the teacher.(nothing was ever done to the teacher either, but anyway...) he has also had anger problems that he is on medication for and sees a behavioralist, and a child phycolgist. my husband and i have studied about this and changed so many of our own behaviors, things that we do, how things are done, and even how we disapline and/or punish. we have tried everything that all the docters psycologists behavioralists etc have suggested, even tried different medicines in the past for him. he is doing great now at home, but is doing AWFUL at school. i met with his teachers, AGAIN, today and things are just progressively getting worse at school. we have tried talking to him among other things, and we are at a complete loss. he is now starting to get physical (hitting other students and teachers, and this is new. before it has been mainly behavior like not listening, dis-obedience things like that. we have tried different rewards systems at home and school to give him some thing to work twards, and also different punishments for wrong behavior. we are regulars at church and he is doing great there as well as at home, but if things keep up the way they have , i see prison in his future and even just thinking that makes me tear up. he IS a GREAT kid, but my heart breaks for him on a daily basis, and for the teachers that deal with it seemingly on a daily basis. i am at my wits end and could really use some advice from someone that has observed thing like this before or have any kind of experience either directly or indirectly. what can i do that i havent already (besides home school, because it isnt an option as much as i wish it could be) any advice (helpfull, not critical) would be welcome. has anyone ever gone through this or known someone that has? i know that God gas a purpose for him and even if that is not for me to see, i dont know what else to do. thanks for any advice in advance.

I've had quite a number of British teachers. I notice that the way they speak seems to be distinctively unique from my American accent and sometimes to the extent of being remotely weird in pronounciation. Out of curiosity, I've experimented talking in a British manner but most often times failed. I think that having UK teachers is not good enough, one seems to need to live long enough in UK to acquire that British accent (language immersion). What do you think? Well, I'm not trying to imitate English speakers and I certainly do appreciate my own unique way of speaking, as well as geographical accents & differences in terms of speaking. Just curious to know how you feel about this topic.

Open Question: What can I do to stop...

September 01, 2008

I've written about this here before, but I find myself thinking about it too often. I'm still re-living it for some reason. About two years ago, in my first semester of university there was a class-mate who had a problem with me. We didn't know eachother at all, and I never once had a real conversation with her or anything. She knew my first name - and that was it. I overheard her making fun of me really often, and she made it obvious as well. This type of thing happened a lot in high school, and it took me a long time to work through it. But, that semester in university was a lot harder for me to handle. I was already dealing with difficult personal circumstances, so i didn't appear very confident - maybe i was easy to pick on. My problem is that i still blame myself for how i was treated. It was always being done behind my back, but it still made me hate being at school. I even tried talking to the teacher about it, but he told me that i was most likely imagining it. I know that these situations are common, but it had a horrible effect on me. The following semester, the same girl ended up in my class once again (which is strange, because it's such a large school). She did it again - she made fun of me. After that, i've not been the same. I stopped attending school, and decided to take a break. The reason i stopped going was because I started to feel like there was something wrong with everything i did. I started to blame myself a lot. I started having horrible panick attacks all the time. I know for a fact that i did nothing wrong to that person, but i always end up thinking that i'm somehow responsible for how i was treated. I already had anxiety to begin with, but after that experience, it has really become out of control. I feel like the way i walk, talk, do anything is wrong. I don't understand why she had to pick on me. I wasn't in her life; i had no impact on her at all. Why couldn't she just have left me alone. I just minded my own business (like many others). I don't get it.Btw - the only reason she knew my name was because the teacher said our names really often in class. Otherwise, she wouldn't even have known that much. The reason i didn't confront her was because I thought she would just deny it. She was always nice to other ppl around (i heard her offering to help ppl, with their work etc), so i don't think she would have admitted that there was this other side of her.

My sisters friend got a detention for yelling at a teacher and she decided to get revenge. So she asked my little sister to help her. They went to the school, after school hours, and got into the teachers classroom. My sister said she didn't touch anything just stood there, and you can see her standing in the doorway (they were caught on the schools camera). The other girl destroyed the teachers desk and the classroom and then they both ran.So now my sister is suspended as well as the other girl. But do you think a weeks suspension is an appropriate punishment?the tresspassing thing is wrong...they allow students into the building until 7:00. and it was before 7.ouragonyou have this totally misunderstood. I never told her she was in the right and i never got into it. Your simply assuming things without knowing the full story. I never said weather or not I agreed with the punishment, I simply want other oppinions.

Open Question: 6 year old boy who...

My 6 year old son is in his 2nd year of Kindergarten (private school). His birthday is in late April and since he struggled last year, I thought he needed another year to mature (despite the fact his teacher was telling me she could not get him to pay attention). He is not a discipline problem -- he just "zones out." This morning, his teacher told me the same thing. She said she was "concerned" because he just seems to "tune her out". She can ask everyone to put their pencils in the blue box and everyone will know what to do, except him. I notice this at home too as well as at baseball, soccer, etc. He is an only child and really creates an imaginary world for himself sometimes. He is very smart but obviously has a problem tuning into reality. Is there anything I can do? Is there something more to this?

Open Question: Need help with healing...

Here is my problem, my voice is extremely sore and I need some help having it not hurt for a few hours. Here is how it started. For the past two weeks my parents and I have been having these little screaming matches. (I know screaming is terrible for your voice but it just kind of happens.) I realized after about three of these that my voice was going south. Well the week before this I was around a lot of people who were sneezing, pulling up there nose and coughing. I figured oh great I am going to get sick. Well I started to have a sore throat then. I took over the counter medicine. My mother is works at an elementary school where about 5 of the children had strep throat and they gave it to the teacher. Well I figured this might also have been the cause. Then for the past month I have been practicing for an audition that was this past Sunday. When I got up on stage my throat was killing me. I got up there and my vocal cords just tightened. I got through the song but the sound was off because of it. I got off stage and my throat was so sore, I could barely talk. My mother made me an appointment with the doctor. He asked a few questions and gave me medicine saying it might be from a past acid flex condition and allergies. (I told him all of this at the appointment.) He check for strep throat and said that the culture that they took would take a few days. Well tonight I have an audition but it’s just speaking. But I just need it to stop hurting for a few hours till its over. I have tried drinking honey and tea. It helps for awhile but then it wears off. Does anyone know of anything else that might be able to help? I know this was a long question, but I figured if I explained the entire thing someone might be able to tell me what I should do, to try and stop it with the help of medicine. So any singers have this same problem? Or something similar? What did you do for the problem? The doctors says if it doesn't clear up within 4 weeks I need to go see an ear, nose and throat doctor, to check and see if I might have polyps on my vocal cords. But I am not sure how that is possible because I have only been singing professionally for almost 2 years now. I would think those would only happen after many years of singing. Anyway. Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.Can that Vicks rub thing work even if you don't go to sleep? Or will it only work if you are resting and asleep? I am just wondering.

I'm decent with computers...I'm just not that great at web design.I have a teacher that lectures but doesn't give the notes and I had to miss a class but I noticed that she does post the notes on the class website but makes the link to them hidden so that only she has access when she logs into the website under her user name and password. I believe when I log into the website under my user name that the links are there but I just can't see them. Is there a way that I can access the links??If it helps, when I saw her log onto the website under her user name, the links were visible but faded and had hidden in parenthesis underneath them.

Anybody find it funny that the media recently started making a big deal about teachers having sex with students at high school? Don't you think this goes on in every high school? It's just that some know how to keep their mouth shut. I know one girl who told me she slept with a teacher, and I know of another occasion with a girl having sex with a teacher. So what are your thoughts on teachers and kids having sex? Do you think it could actually be stopped, and does any sane person really believe this is a modern phenomenon that just started?
