Resolved Question: Which US President...
Who did the most for America? The Bushes were war Criminals, Nixon and Truman were fascists, Lincoln was a hypocrite, Clinton was a sleazebag, Wilson and Roosevelt were war mongers.Who did the most for America which didn't include either war or racing Russia to space?Interesting how so many people took exception to the terms I used to describe certain presidents, and now I'm being accused of having no knowledge of history.1) Abraham Lincoln being a "F***ing badass" only goes as far as his liberation of the slaves, which only occurred because of the North's wretched hatred of the South. First lady Mary Todd Lincoln's family owned dozens of slaves.2) Roosevelt was a war monger - does nobody know the roots of the Cold War? The big three? The behind-the-scenes suspicion? Not to mention the fact that he had prior knowledge of the Nazi concentration camps which he simply dismissed and left for the troops to find.If you want to call me a "Communist", you're only perpetuating the archetypal "militaristic tosser" portrayed by George C Scott as Buck Turgidson in Kubrick's 1965 slash at the Cold War, Dr Strangelove.I'd be in the exact same place regardless of Lincoln. I don't live in a country where I'm liberated FROM freedom.

McCain is said to be benefiting from this politically because his rivals are tearing each other apart. In fact, few people are paying much attention to what the Republican nominee is saying, or subjecting it to any serious scrutiny. On March 26, McCain gave a speech on foreign policy in Los Angeles that was billed as his most comprehensive statement on the subject. It contained within it the most radical idea put forward by a major candidate for the presidency in 25 years. Yet almost no one noticed. In his speech McCain proposed that the United States expel Russia from the G8, the group of advanced industrial countries. Moscow was included in this body in the 1990s to recognize and reward it for peacefully ending the cold war on Western terms, dismantling the Soviet empire and withdrawing from large chunks of the old Russian Empire as well. McCain also proposed that the United States should expand the G8 by taking in India and Brazil-but pointedly excluded China from the councils of power. We have spent months debating Barack Obama's suggestion that he might, under some circumstances, meet with Iranians and Venezuelans. It is a sign of what is wrong with the foreign-policy debate that this idea is treated as a revolution in U.S. policy while McCain's proposal has barely registered. What McCain has announced is momentous-that the United States should adopt a policy of active exclusion and hostility toward two major global powers. It would reverse a decades-old bipartisan American policy of integrating these two countries into the global order, a policy that began under Richard Nixon (with Beijing) and continued under Ronald Reagan (with Moscow). It is a policy that would alienate many countries in Europe and Asia who would see it as an attempt by Washington to begin a new cold war.I write this with sadness because I greatly admire John McCain, a man of intelligence, honor and enormou8/20/2008 10:40:01 AMRecommend (0) R

Resolved Question: Who makes the best...
Almost all past presidents have either been a governor, senator, or vice pres. Past Governors: FDR, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, Jimmy carter and the current president. Past Senators: John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson. Past Vice Presidents: Teddy Roosevelt, Lyndon Johnson, Harry Truman, George HW Bush, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford.Eisenhower was unique in that he was a military commander.
Resolved Question: What is the Secret...
They hide a secret from the world. Only a small group of people within the US government and NASA could access the information and material. The Cover up:A UFO crashed northwest of Roswell, New Mexico, in the summer of 1947. The military acted quickly and efficiently to recover the debris after its existence was reported by a ranch hand. The debris - unlike anything these highly trained men had ever seen - was flown without delay to at least three government installations. A cover story was concocted to explain away the debris and the flurry of activity. It was explained that a weather balloon, one with a new radiosonde target device, had been found and temporarily confused the personnel of the 509th Bomb Group. Government officials took reporters' notes from their desks and warned a radio reporter not to play a recorded interview with the ranch hand. The men who took part in the recovery were told never to talk about the incident. And with a whimper, not a bang, the Roswell event faded quickly from public view and press scrutiny. The Hidden Truth - In 1947, July 21. Top Scientists & Engineers are secretly call in to work on a project. A secret underground military installment in Nevada was used for that purpose in 1951. The materials they found are totally out of this world as described by the researchers. The hardest substance known today is aggregated diamond nanorods, with a hardness over 12 of and a stiffness 1.11 of diamond. (A polyyne was discovered in 2005 which are 40 times harder than diamond. It is a "superhard" molecular rod, comprised of acetylene units.)However the materials found in the wreckage seems to be over at least 150 times harder than a diamond and high melting point of 83,100 degrees as described in the top secret report to President Harry S. Truman in summer, 1948. The team of researchers also described a diamond glass (even harder than diamond as stated earlier) cylinder core of 50 cm wide and 3 meters tall. Inside the cylinder there are 12 (2 inches wide) cubes rotating randomly inside the center core at a very random speed emitting some form of electrons. The core eventually die out in 1970 in another Top secret report to President Richard Nixon.According to the team of researchers in 1947, they suggested that the UFO might have been damaged through entering Earth's atmosphere. However this theory was over thrown in 1965 when another team of researchers suggested the Alien craft was already mostly destroyed in space and its wreckage was left drifting in space. The craft could have been in the space for thousand of years and eventually captured by Earth's gravitational pull which resulted the crashed on Earth.According to carbon-14, the craft was between 10,000 to 12,000 years old.None of the reports mentioned about finding aliens aboard the alien craft. However one particular report in 1948, shows strong evidence that the craft is a manned craft and it will require at least 4 crews to fly it. If there were crews on board where are they ? Have they escaped the crash ? Or they disintegrated when they expose to our atmosphere ? Much questions are raise but little are answered. The secret team of researchers are known as "Sector 3", mainly because the team of researchers have special clearance in the 3 sector of military installment. The Sector 3 is say to be non existence even to the FBI, people within sector 3 will have at least 3 identities. According to a hidden act - The Sector 3 Agent has the right to detain anyone that are suspected to be in contact with Extra-Terrestrial and will only release information base on "need to know" basis. Sector 3 will only take orders from the president of the United States under very special circumstances. Currently there are at least 20 Sector 3 agents in NASA and SETI accordingly to the leaked source.- NASA was setup in 29th July 1958 - SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) was setup in 1960. The truth is kept secret. What else have the US and NASA been hiding ? This is certainly not a school essay.

This is a Yes or No Question. (please excuse any spelling error's)This is my "Reasons" for asking please read and concider before casting your vote. In all serisouness, I lived and worked and joined the Military Under Carter. So when looking at what was happening in the World and America from, 1973 to 1980;1) End of 'Nam '75, = "Military Draw Down" Just like after WW2. Although, a. We still had peace keeping to do after #2 so the draw down wasn't b. "Nam starts in 1945, with the French fighting to keep conrtol of their Colony. c. Japan was Dis-Armed. Korea was in civil war with Communist China backing their Neighbor the North. Japan was a sitting Duck.Mass infux of former military personnel into the labor pool. Jobs filled America Happy. Republicans will later use this to tarnish 1 of the First, Nuclear Submarine Officers.2) Boat People, how many Millions of refugies floated across the Pacific in anything that would float to America. This Massive influx of People into our economy in the late 70's Soaked-Up any remaining jobs, started buying up Food and other commodities causing mass inflation.3) Lines at the Gas Staions. If anyone would care to remember. The First Oil Crissis was in '73 under Republicans Nixon and Ford, Hmm 35 years later Repo President again, very currious). That one was from OPEC flexing it's muscles and the blockage of the Suez Cannel. The 1 under Carter was America telling OPEC to; "Eat Their Oil" for their direct support of Terrorism around the world. He told us there would be Sacrifices, but if our fathers "the Greatest Generation" could do it to defeat Hitler and then stop the spread of Communism and its Evil after WW2. We could easily do This. Then reallity hit Americans with gas every other day by liecense plate number. Rip-off fly by night gizmos that didn't work, etc. . . And we gave up. It was just too Hard for America and her people. The Freedom that was Very easy to reach if we would have "Just Done It". His Goal was by 1998, Ten years ago. 3 years before 9/11, and, Before the USS. Cole, Or the Embasy in Africa. (It should be noted that the rules for determining "Inflation were Changed after Reagan took office.)4) The Iranian People got Tired of the Dictator "We" had installed (along with Saddem) some years earlier and Over Thru "The Shaw of Iran". They weren't too happy with America for giving them this Dictator so some psssed off "Students" or radical followers (like KKK) took over our Embasy there. Carter responded with a task force of our "Best Trained" Marine Spec. Opps. Personnel. Sabatoge' to equipment or a "Leak of Top Secret info." (Valarie Plaim?) caused the Traggic end to the Lives of some of our Finest Defenders of Freedom and the mission that should have Freed our people. And giving the Repo's more ammo' to use against Carter. Then the Hostage's were set for Release in the late summer of '80, but the Republican Party went and promissed to "help them" if they would just hold on to Our Fellow Americans until after Reagan safely in office. 180 Days Longer just so Carter wouldn't have that feather in his hat before the elections of 1980.(The above is what actually happened and is true, Remember? I smoked more pot then you did and I remember these events. I was a asst. mgr of a Gas station and I joined the U.S. Army under Jimmy in early 1980.) So after reading and concidering the truthful information (not propagnda) provided. My question is; Does our former President, Naval Nuke Sub Officer. Good all-around American good guy (who's momma Miss Lillian Carter, rode Her FHL Harley Davidson all over this great land of ours.), Get a Bum Rap?

...NED (CIA underground program created in the Reagan years; National Endowment for Democracy) for funding but can't fund themselves, does that lose credibility of what they are doing?***I apologize for the long read below***[::Reporters Without Borders::]Finally the truth has come to light. Mr. Robert Ménard, secretary general of the RSF for twenty years, has confessed to receiving financing from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), an organization that depends on the U.S. Department of State, whose principal role is to promote the agenda of the White House for the entire world. Ménard was indeed very clear. "We indeed receive money from the NED. And that hasn't posed any problem." [[#1]]http://www.zmag.org/znet/viewArticle/6283[[Tibetan Independence groups]]according to formerly secret US intelligence documents (released in the late 1990s), it turned out that “[f]or much of the 1960s, the CIA provided the Tibetan exile movement with $1.7 million a year for operations against China, including an annual subsidy of $180,000 for the Dalai Lama”.[5] By 1969, however, it appears that covert support for the Tibetan cause had either served its geopolitical purpose (or it was decided that these operations were simply no longer effective), and the CIA announced the withdrawal of its aid for the Tibetan revolutionaries. That said, support for the Tibetan freedom fighters was still provided by the Indian and Taiwanese governments “until 1974, two years after President Richard Nixon normalized U.S. relations with China” (as were the U.S. subsidies for the Dalai Lama, which also continued until 1974): however, thereafter – especially once the Dalai Lama urged the fighters to put down their weapons – the violent resistance collapsed and the “CIA quietly paid to resettle the survivors”.[6] With the apparent end of CIA operations in Tibet, John Kraus (2003) observes that although:“…President Ford ended the U.S. government’s involvement with Tibet as part of its Cold War strategy. The next phase of the U.S. relationship with the Dalai Lama and his people was to be cast in terms of a contest between human rights and political engagement with China.”[7] #2http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=6530::[[Falun Gong]]::Would you believe that US Congress may be funding Falun Gong? Resolved Question: If we're going to...
Before you read, take this in mind: I am a very liberal Democrat. I'm not some warmongering conservative. I hate the war in Iraq, I think Vietnam was pointless, etc. But I think this is important.I say this on the heel's of Russia's invasion of Georgia, a former Soviet state. I have a good feeling that Vladimir Putin would just LOVE to reform the USSR, and his first step will be to retake Georgia into Russia and swallow it back into his power. And we're gonna be in a dangerous position as Putin and Medvedev reform Russia and make it far more powerful than it was ten years ago, even if the USSR does not reform. And I'm worried that we're going to need a stronger military than ever before. Bigger than now. Because Russia CANNOT overtake us in military might. It simply cannot happen. And with these record-low taxes, we have no money to grow our military and when we do, we borrow it from China and America sinks further into our record debt. The fact is, if we raised taxes back to their 2000 levels under President Clinton, we could increase our military by something like 10%. We need that. I'm worried for America, and I'm worried the second Cold War could be right around the corner. This is also why I support Barack Obama for President. I know that John McCain is too pro-war and, if there is another Cold War, he could make it nuclear (because Russia has as many nukes as we do, STILL!) and I know that Obama would rather talk to Putin (as Kennedy and Nixon talked to Khrushchev and Reagan talked to Gorbachev, which both helped) than fight him and I know Obama could unite NATO and the UN against Russia.I support Obama and I am very liberal, but we need a strong military and a strong NATO. Especially if Putin gets his way.
Open Question: Is Mccain a Hero ?
This language of war heroism is used unfairly to confuse unjust wars and their architects with the honor of brave soldiers. By promoting the idea that Vietnam was an honorable war and denigrating antiwar Democrats as too weak to "stay the course," Richard Nixon won the election in 1968. He then kept the war going for another five futile years, sustained by that myth.Playing the war hero card has long been a political strategy to elect Republicans; legitimize imperial wars; and portray Democrats and peace activists as weak, cowardly, or traitorous. John Kerry, also a courageous soldier, was swift-boated as a traitor because he became a peace activist in Vietnam.Republicans even did the same to Daniel Ellsberg, a real hero of the Vietnam era. Ellsberg was a war planner who turned against the war and in 1971, at great personal risk, released to The New York Times the "Pentagon Papers," the military's internal and damning history of the war. But as there are no peace heroes, only war heroes in the American moral discourse, President Nixon tried to indict him and many still brand him as a traitor.Ten out of 11 presidents after the Civil War were Republicans, the majority of whom were generals who ran as war heroes. In the 20th century, Republicans continued to serve up war-hero candidates like Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, George H.W. Bush, a strategy that has worked for tens of decades. And now we have John McCain.

Here is an interesting fact, the U.S has not had a brown eyed White president since Richard Nixon. Jimmy Carter, the late Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr, Bill Clinton, and George W. Resolved Question: Should they change...
A one term of six years would give the President six years to define his/her legacy without having to run a re-election campaign at the same time. If you look at the past 50 years, no one has really had a successful second term and it has worked against gains made in the first term as far as their legacy. If we backtrack here:George W. Bush's second term has been mired by the response to Hurricane Katrina, an unpopular war in Iraq, scandal in the Justice Dept, a weak economy with inflation, low political approval.Bill Clinton: Monica Lewisky scandal leads to impeachmentRonald Reagan: Iran Contra scandalRichard Nixon: Watergate scandal lead to his resignationEisenhower: his second term didn't have anything significant happen one way or the other, so it's kind of neutralEven Roosevelt had problems with the Congress and the Supreme Court during his second term that tarnished his legacy but still managed to get re-elected in probably the closest of his 4 campaigns.

Voting Question: Why abortion doesn't...
Once McCain tasted his largest applause to date at Saddleback when he recited the party line on abortion, he has seized on abortion as a cause. He now brings it up all the time. It's become clear in the past week that he's decided it's good business to pander to a portion of the electorate with this "issue."Here's why it's really an irrelevancy, however:In the 35 years since Roe v. Wade, no GOP president -- neither Nixon, nor Ford, not Reagan, nor the two Bushes, all of whom paid varying degrees of lip service to abortion -- has done anything to stop it. BUT they have used it as a wedge issue to get votes. They have used abortion as a touchpoint to rally public support for court appointees, whom we were promised were anti-abortion judges. Eventually all these conservative appointees prove to be standard GOP thinkers who always side with big business and the monied interests. --But not against abortion. The stealth reason for appointing them is to protect conservative wealth against lawsuits. This is what has become very standard conservative strategy in the past 30 years: Hold an issue out front to rally the people, such as abortion, but use the opportunities that issue creates for you to carry out your own secret agenda. The GOP leadership rallies decent people with the abortion issue so it can do it's buddies a favor. It really is just that simple.I am anti-abortion. I am a catholic liberal socially progressive Democrat. But no one is getting my vote solely because they claim to oppose abortion. I see through the manipulation and the wedge issue. Now why don't you?

Open Question: Has the Bush...
The failure of the administration of George W. Bush — and the accompanying crisis of the Republican Party — has caused a political meltdown of historic proportions. In the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, Bush enjoyed the greatest popularity ever recorded for a modern American president. Republicans on Capitol Hill, under the iron rule of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, fattened their coffers through a fearsome operation overseen by corporate lobbyists and GOP henchmen that functioned more like an empire than an old-fashioned political machine. "Republican hegemony," the prominent conservative commentator Fred Barnes rejoiced in 2004, "is now expected to last for years, maybe decades."Now, only four years later, Bush is leaving office with the longest sustained period of public disapproval ever recorded. No president, at least in modern times — and certainly no two-term president — has risen so high only to fall so low. Indeed, Bush's standings in the polls describe one of the most spectacular flameouts in the history of the American presidency — second only, perhaps, to that of Richard Nixon, the only president ever forced to resign from office. And in Congress, the indictment and downfall of DeLay and a host of associated scandals involving, among others, the Republican superlobbyist Jack Abramoff, have badly damaged the party's image. The supremacy of the GOP, once envisioned by party operatives as a "permanent majority," may be gone for a very long time to come.http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/22665562Sean Wilentz (the writer of the article) is the Sidney and Ruth Lapidus Professor of History at Princeton University, where he has taught since 1979.Wilentz earned one B.A. at Columbia University in 1972, before earning another at Oxford University on a Kellett Fellowship, and his Ph.D. at Yale University. His historical scholarship has focused on the early years of the American republic. His major study, The Rise of American Democracy: Jefferson to Lincoln, received the Bancroft Prize in 2006 and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. His first book, Chants Democratic, won several awards, including the Beveridge Award from the American Historical Association. He has more recently turned his scholarship to recent U.S. history. His latest book is The Age of Reagan: A History, 1974-2008.I thought if people wanted to trash the writer of the article, it might spare them a bit of embarrassment if they knew his background before they started calling names.

I am thinking that Clinton had a Wilsonian foreign policy, like most other Presidents in recent history besides Richard Nixon, who's foreign policy was modeled after Theodore Roosevelt's (according to Henry Kissinger). Clinton got the US involved in "peacekeeping" missions in the Balkans that involved NATO and the UN.

In my nightmare I mused{Wouldn't the software effort be "model based development" and "model based testing" ?Someone misconstrued the reference model as a model of the released code. They told their team to declare the project completed and then asked someone to modify a copy of the model so as to reflect the released code.Thereafter, individuals test the system against the reference model which they don't realise has been modified.<

We've all seen it before... Unkept promises...I shall propose a sweeping new program that will assure comprehensive health insurance protection to millions of Americans who cannot now obtain it or afford it...." Richard Nixon 33 years agoThat was much the same pledge made by Nixon in 1974, when he said "Let this be our national goal. At the end of the decade in the year 1980, the United States will not be dependent on any other country for the energy we need to provide our jobs, to heat our homes, and to keep our transportation going." Richard NixonHe promised to "knock down the tollbooths to the middle class"-the barriers that prevent the working poor from getting a leg up. Has he... when he lowers the riches taxes, it spreads the debt over that which the middle class pays....14 months ago when President Bush pledged in his 2003 State of the Union speech to donate $15 billion to fight AIDS over three years. Since then, US outlays have been a fraction of the promised amount.Adding his 78 visits to Camp David and his five visits to Kennebunkport, Maine, Bush has spent all or part of 500 days in office at one of his three retreats, or more than 40 percent of his presidency."Adding his 78 visits to Camp David and his five visits to Kennebunkport, Maine, Bush has spent all or part of 500 days in office at one of his three retreats, or more than 40 percent of his presidency."On the education front Bush took credit for his failed No Child Left Behind Act, which has been left largely unfunded so that measuring its true success, is not possible. Bush 2006And through all of this John McCain stuck by George 90 percent of the time... Now because he is a presidential candidate he changes his tune... It's absurd to think that McCain can be believed. Does McCain have the strength to lead... To follow, maybe... Not to lead the real Changes America needs. Winston Churchill once said, "The United States invariably does the right thing, after having exhausted every other alternative." It's time to do the right thing and help Anerica first.

Open Question: Why Are These...
* Susan Eisenhower (granddaughter of the President Eisenhower) and, possibly John Eisenhower, who voted for Kerry in 2004 (son of President Eisenhower)* Julie Nixon (daughter of President Nixon)I have heard of unknown/private citizen "Republicans for Obama," but never such high-profile GOP members as these. Does anyone know why? In 1964, former President Eisenhower was not enamoured with Goldwater, so he qualified his vote as a "vote for the Republican Party." If these people don't like Bush or McCain, they can simply qualify their vote as a "vote for the Republican Party" rather than a vote for McCain/Bush. I think that the children and grandchildren of former GOP Presidents are "high-profile," don't you? I mean, they are not just private citizens, really.

Resolved Question: Has any Republican...
To "beware the military industrial complex"???Nixon? Ford? Reagan? G.H.W. Bush? G.W. Bush??Have Republican's failed to take to heart the advice of their most decorated, most honored, military-educated President??? And if so why do you think that is.... and how can we change this?koffea: So if I understand you correctly you are saying that the Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in Europe and later the President of the United States... who sat at the top of the ladder in the biggest conflict in the history of the world... AND the most advanced military in the history of the world had NO INCITE on this issue and we should instead look at Mussolini (who tried and failed to create an effective military industrial complex) and some pre-industrial military powers... because they offer MORE incite?? Are you high... are they giving away those "top answerer" avatars??Captain Obvious: I see you dancing around it... not really answering the question though??I think you clearly fail to understand what Eisenhower was talking about, that if you couple a country's industrial might with it's defense capabilities you end up in a situation where it is not defense but OFFENSE that becomes the focus of the nation (see Koffea's references to Hitler and Mussolini). So our government spends the VAST majority of it's budget on so-called "defense" but we still have open borders and are hemorrhaging money to private defense contractors.... exactly the situation that Eisenhower warned of.This is not to be confused with other legitimate government expenditures like health care, elder care, and education because frankly you can add up what we spend each year on all three of those examples annually.... then double them... and you still don't get what is going to the "military industrial complex" in that same year.Young Hippy:I know you are young.... but U.S. M.A.A.G was in Vietnam in 1956 when the man the question refers to was in office. He propounded the "domino theory" and he committed the U.S. to S.E. Asia. The first americans died in Vietnam in 1959 fully four years before LBJ sat in the big desk.Captain Obvious: Thanks, I did look at your link. What you are forgetting... is that this whole Iraq War has not been budgeted for.... has been categorized as "emergency spending for 5 looong years....and does not appear as part of the Pentagon's Budget. So what is $10 billion per week over the course of more than 60 months??? Or should I just take the Washington Post's numbers... they estimate $3 TRILLION on Iraq alone.... so sorry despite your link YOUR WRONG.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/03/07/AR2008030702846.html
Resolved Question: Historians Say...
"Experience matters but it is terribly overstated," says Historian Robert Dallek, author or recent books about President Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon. JFK was four years younger than Obama is now, first years or two rocky as president but he quickly learned.John Quincy Adams had much experience in politics but lack good judgement when it came to the presidency says Dallek.Basically, everyone mad at Obama for not being as old as McCain but if you think about it, none of them really has "experience" when it comes to running a country regardless of being POW like McCain or having carisma and talent like Obama.Noone really knows who can run our country better but why are we so hung up on "experience" when no of them has any "experience" except for our ex-presidents!?!?!?!
Voting Question: Who has been the...
I think Nixon.Greetings from NH, US!
Voting Question: Does the vice...
Personally, It totally matters to me. I am an independent, and even more important I am part of the 10% or so that is undecided. I have not chosen who I will vote for. I like john mccain on most issues except the war and fighting terrorism. And I like barack obama on most issues except taxes, and drilling for oil. I will decide who I am voting for when I hear who the vp's will be. For example if mccain picks romney, I will vote for obama, and if obama picks hilary I will vote for mccain. And if both are chosen i'm voting for nader. But in my opinion, the vp matters very much since most of our vps have ended up being president. Lbj, gerald ford, harry truman, george bush sr., richard nixon and al gore almost was. So it is very important to me who the vp is because of that, and also so we dont have another one who is running the white house like dick chaney!
Resolved Question: Who was the worst...
Compared to presidents of old, we have not really had a great president in some time. Who would you say was the worst president over the past 50 years? I know most of you are going to say George W. Bush or Bill Clinton, but let’s not forget Jimmy Carter or Nixon, or the first Bush. Please be clear on which Bush you are talking about, and I do mean politically speaking. My vote of course is George Dubya Bush, I know I just contradicted myself, but at least I clarified which one.
Open Question: On...
I have a question that I have been thinking about for quite a while. Do you think that one's ethnic group, or race, or religion is more important (sometimes!) in voting, than is political policy. Examples: 1. 90% of Black Americans are Democrats. If the Republican presidential/vice presidential nominee was Black, do you think they would vote GOP, just to elect a Black President - in effect, put race above policy. 2. U.S. GOP Vice President (under Nixon) Spiro Agnew was Greek. Do you think he voted Democratic in 1988, because the Dems nominated a Greek American, Michael Dukakis? This would be a case of ethnicity over political party. 3. 70% of Jewish Americans are Dems. Do you think, if there was a Jewish American GOP Nominee, they would vote for him instead. This would be a case of religion over party. I am not alone in thinking these things. In his autobiography, Gerald Ford, said that southern Black Americans would vote for Jimmy Carter because Carter and the Black Americans shared a common Baptist faith. So, even President Ford admitted that sometimes there is a case of putting religion (or race or ethnicity) over party. What do you think? To the fellow who questioned my statistics, it is a fair question. But, I don't make stuff up. Check out this link. http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/US/P/00/epolls.0.html
