Hi, I have a little bit of a speech disability due to Cerebral Palsy. I want something to help me gain better communication skills. I talk quietly and slow. And I need to improve my pronunciation and grammar. I thought maybe the English version of the Rosetta Stone would help me? I want something that could be used like speech therapy. Would the Rosetta Stone accomplish that? If not, what do you suggest? Thanks

Voting Question: Good Christian poetry?
I have a speech tournament coming up, and I was struck by the idea that I should use Christian poetry. I found one fantastic poem called "Teach Me To Pray," which is about a new-comer to Christianity asking God how to pray. I like this poem because it highlights that God just wants you to pray, and he doesn't care how or when. I am having a hard time finding other similar poems. Other poems that I've been finding are awful accusatory. I am inspired to use Christian poetry because this is a time that we truly need God. Accusations are not a way to gain brothers and sisters in Christ.Does anyone know of any good poems that I should use? I'd really appreciate your help.Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention, THIS MUST BE A PUBLISHED POEM by a person with a real name, not a username.

They are like peas in a pod. Both argue constantly with each other, but ultimately they are fighting for the same things: to gain control over the masses. They are fighting amongst each other to be alpha dog. When the Left accuses the Right of censoring speech, you can only look to "liberal" europe and canada to see otherwise. Both groups, whenever in power, seek to dominate. They are authoritarian self-obssessed maniacs. They seek to take and take from everyone.Libertarians want and ask for nothing, other than to be left alone.I would love to see a bumber sticker that reads: "True humanitarians mind their own business."Only Libertarians understand true individual liberty.

I know it is very long, but I would REALLY appreciate it if you could read it over and tell me if there are any grammatical mistakes/errors.Thanks!!! :D1. The opening book of T.H. White’s The Once and Future King, titled The Sword in the Stone, illustrates Arthur’s captivating adventures and his growth from an innocent boy into an illustrious leader. All through the novel, the reader is enthralled in Arthur’s treacherous adventures, his hardships and challenges, and his notable accomplishments. An extensive portion of the novel is based on Arthur’s intimate relationship with his tutor and friend, Merlyn. Throughout the novel, it is understood that Merlyn believed a child should learn solely through experience, and thus approved of Arthur's transformations into different animals; through these unusual events Arthur could explore and learn. Arthur’s experiences with the various animals he transformed into taught him both mental and physical skills, the idea that knowledge is power, and his main belief that that “might makes right.” 2.The Once and Future King highlights Arthur’s daring escapades from the time he encountered Merlyn, to the time Arthur became the legendary King of England. From the beginning of the novel, Merlyn presents Arthur with an abundant amount of quests. Arthur’s fourth quest consisted of transforming into a goose to fully understand how geese lived in comparison to other animals. When Arthur was transformed into a goose, he immediately befriended Lyo-lyok, his mentor and companion throughout his adventure. Through Lyo-lyok, Arthur learned of their traditions, migratory rituals, and their society as a whole. Arthur’s view on the way the geese lived as a culture astounded him as he learned that their instincts led them to a peaceful, humane society where everyone benefited from individualism. They were not governed by laws or leader, except when they came about spontaneously (White, 173), and Arthur was taught that the geese did not fight against their own kind. Overall, Arthur’s acquired knowledge from migrating with the geese taught him that they had a purpose in life, they only fought against natural predators, and that they were an amicable group of animals. 3.Because Merlyn is portrayed as an insightful magician, he instinctively knows what is best for Arthur’s wellbeing as an individual. Merlyn’s adventures allowed Arthur to experience different lifestyles so that in the future, Arthur becomes the infallible, compassionate king he turned out to be. Because the geese were such good-natured, genial creatures, Arthur learned to be patient and cordial, which led to his desire to create the Round Table. Arthur’s longing to generate the Round Table, which represented justice, righteousness, and reason, inevitably became one of his greatest accomplishments. With hundreds of dedicated knights seated in a circle, they all represented equal individuals. Rather than being a belligerent group of knights, their main focus was doing good for those in need of help. These ideas, along with “might over right”, all originated from Arthur’s encounter with Lyo-lyok and the group of geese. If it weren’t for Lyo-lyok’s speech on how there are no boundaries on earth (White, 172), Arthur’s reign as king would have been focused on “right over might” and he would have participated in more battles and wars. 4.Arthur learned through each of his transformations that knowledge is power. The geese exercised their power through different methods by teaching Arthur to give great thought in making decisions related to specific problems and endeavors. Throughout the first book of The Once and Future King, Arthur learned from the geese that boundaries between territories do not exist. This allowed him to construct the idea of the Round Table and to create peace throughout the different regions of England, successfully creating a civilized country. In general, Arthur primarily learns that he is successful at interpreting Merlyn's morals and principles into a system of power and authority.5.From Arthur’s experiences with the tyrannical fish, the aggressive hawks, the hostile ants, the tranquil geese, and the shrewd badger, he learns that might equals right and that he should reign with complete integrity and honor. White’s novel carefully portrays the assorted adventures Merlyn designates Arthur throughout The Once and Future King. Although Arthur gained a great degree of knowledge from each of his various expeditions, it is depicted throughout the novel that Arthur’s adventure with the geese benefited his role as king in many, diverse ways.

I have been watching politics closely since 1972 (as a kid), never can I remember an opposing party failing to comment after the other Party's Convention. This past Democratic Convention was followed by commentary where usually the other side gets on and trashes the Speeches of opponent's party etc...This year the Republican Party's official paragraph of response was Paraphrased as: " I don't know, we weren't watching it."This detached attitude of smugness only shows me that the Republicans are using a new approach this time around.Notice how they got "All Presidential" for the opening night of their own Party Convention (delaying it to respond to Hurricane Hanna). They are relying on the apathy and laziness of the American People to retain power by counting on most of us to be of a "Homer Simpson" mindset.I have a strong feeling McCain will find or conspire to create a situation that will excuse him from facing Obama in a debate. My Guess is he will hire terrorists to do something to gain sympathy for his "Patriotism" Bla-bla-bla like:Maybe (this is just a theory): Have a figure like Palin's kid held hostage.(or something of great importance to his cause like that , that could not be independently verified .Imagine how easy it would be for something like that to give him a "note from mommy not to participate".All he would have to do is get Palin to conspire to hide one of her kids, then they could produce a fake note of demands etc... the media coverage alone would turn everyone's attention away from the debates with Obama, and if his side complained they would be called monsters for insisting at such a difficult time.I can see it now, make Obama out to be the bad guy for demanding that the real issues be heard. The GOP would spin it so Obama's vision is never shared with the world.I am willing to bet my vote on this , any of you got the stones to call my bet?Translation for Republicans:I am willing to bet my vote that McCain will bail in fright /and or lose miserably if he shows up for this Friday's debate. Are any of you who commented willing to bet your vote on my prediction? It is put up or shut up time! If I get no takers I will know you share your" Maverick's" lack of Balls. Why is he not using calming words that are constructive and directing. What does he have to gain by instigating and furthering mass fear with us, the non rich. Do they need us to make noise so the deal goes through so they can keep the money they've been siphoning off of us for the last 8 years. Woudn't that be ironic, if the organizations they hid their money in is one of the organizations that is failing.

Why is there no talk of authorities, governments, police etc going after the top earners in these reckless investment institutes. For decades these scumbag 'criminals' have been abusing the deregulation of the markets for their own gain. I'm sure they are crying into their champagne breakfasts on the decks of their enormous yachts in Monaco right now. Instead of asking the taxpayers to bail them out, why don't we identify the small percentage of people that have made fortunes in this disgusting gold rush, and strip them of their assets - all of them. They must be worth a few hundred billion between them - that may at least alleviate the burden asked of the tax payer. To flip Churchill's famous speech the current situation is more a case of "Never has so much been owed to so many by so few"
Voting Question: I feel like a...
My boyfriend and I have been dating for a while now and we are incredibly in love. Everything is going so well and I have never been in such an amazing relationship before. Right now I'm 20 years old and a sophomore in college, he is 25 years old and out of college already working at a job. Last year I went to a school in Chicago and did terribly. I fell into a weird insecure depression, stopped going to class, gained a lot of weight and just completely lost myself. However, before that in high school I was extremely successful. I got amazing grades, was extremely active in theatre (I did over 20 shows acting, directing, vocal coaching, stage managing and doing tech work), was in choir (was choir leader, competed in vocal competitions and won over 22 gold medals, travel to NYC, Russia, Czech Republic, Finland & the Netherlands to sing), was in band (did color guard and competed in competitions with the band), did various clubs and won many awards for all those areas. Then college rolled around and all that crap happened and it was horrible. Now I'm back home and doing better than ever. I'm taking classes (just general ed though) at a community college and I plan to attend another college for fashion retail management. When I came back home I felt the wave of complete failure. I absolutely hated myself for destroying my body and my mind the way I did and especially the fact that I disappointed my parents and myself. After some therapy I got so much better and eventually met an amazing guy (my boyfriend whom I mentiond at the top). He's so wonderful and makes me feel good about myself, however his ex-girlfriend truly makes me feel horrible. She was a horrible girl herself...his family refers to her as the 'spawn of the devil' (she was truly horrible). Even though this girl was sadistic, ungrateful, bad-tempered, rude and insane she was extremely smart. She was a well known country singer in her area who did duets with famous country singers, was well known for being on speech team, etc. Basically she was very successful and that's what attracted her to him. When I heard this I felt like a failure all over again. I've been singing all my life and not once have I gotten a big break like this ungrateful B*T*C*! I feel like a complete failure because all I do now is go to school part time and work as an assistant in the financial aid office of my college. I feel pathetic and can't stop thinking about it...I feel physically sick (I throw up randomly and I can't eat) and I feel mentally sick. Can someone please help me?

Resolved Question: Harvard alumni...
I am a 40 year old minority female who always dreamed of attending an Ivy League school but never got to do so. I want to attend Harvard and be deeply challenged as I obtain a Music Composition degree. Here are the obstacles and the mitigating circumstances that might, respectively, prevent me from being accepted or help me be accepted. I hope at least one Harvard alumnus or alumna reads this question and can offer authentic advice as to what my chances are. Thank you.The Obstacles:1. I was an average achiever in high school because I had to deal with an unusual amount of racism and targeted bullying while there. My grades were mostly Bs with a few Cs in mathematics.2. No one in my family has ever attended Harvard University.3. My family was and is quite poor.4. I am 40, not 18.5. I attended a college my highly religious father "sent" me to, hated it, and dropped out after one year of undistinguished academics.POSSIBLE MITIGATORY CIRCUMSTANCES1. At 40 I now know how to focus and study. I would get straight A's now in a college environment.2. I did very well on my SAT. Mathematics I did fairly well, but my verbal was perfect. The total score is over 1000.3. I became a superachiever after leaving the college I eventually did go to. I am well-known in a highly competitive industry and have established myself as a national leader in it. It involves education and draws heavily from the research of prior Harvard graduates and lecturers. What I think I need to do, and about which I need advice to determine if I am correct, is the following:1. Continue the success of my company and build a relationship with Harvard through it, specifically in the school whose discipline is the one with which my company is concerned, and foster associations and friendships there.2. Publicly involve Harvard in my company's work, and make sure that this becomes a mutually-beneficial cooperative association. Avoid scandal and reflect well on the University.3. Become instrumental or helpful in gaining Harvard a large financial grant or award through this work.4. Seek a personal recommendation from someone at a high level in the school of my company's shared discipline. Ask them to write a letter of endorsement to the Office of the Provost.5. Give a speech to the Hardship Committee explaining my youthful laziness but demonstrate how I have matured.6. Then work my backside off and get all As.Would this work? Would I get in? Or do I, as one friend suggested, probably need to enter and do exceptionally well at another university first, say at Dartmouth or a state school, THEN apply to Harvard to begin graduate school instead of as an undergraduate? Alumni, please chime in... I want to work hard and earn the Crimson... "Veritas"... it is my dream.

Resolved Question: Religion in public...
Background Info:I'm a 17 year old female and I am a Senior in High School in Southeastern Louisiana. I was raised Catholic but now I would consider myself to be agnostic. In my small town right in the middle of the "Bible Belt", Christianity is by far the main leading religion. The majority of the people go to church twice a week (if not more) and definitely fight for their religious rights. There is one church called Harvest (to me its a cult) and it has nearly 5,000 MEMBERS and it is a non-denominational church that runs off of a (in my opinion twisted) G12 agenda where people of "good ranking" are named as "disciples" and "cell leaders" and then they are forced to gain 12 dicsiples of their own then those 12 get another 12 and so forth to grow the church...Anyways, the main point is that every Thursday at my school a non-denominational church called Harvest sends their youth ministers to invite children to religious meetings during lunch (non-curricular time) in the home ec. classroom and invites students to come worship God. Personally, I would not see anything wrong with this if it were advertised via flyers or announcements. BUT, these people from this church call themselves "disciples" and they come to the public tables in the lunch room and personally ask students if they want to come meet in the room and learn about what God did for them through Jesus Christ. First off, I'm not quite sure if it is legal for an adult to come into a school and go up to any child that they wish to in a lunch room. (I would hope and think that this should be illegal) Secondly, I do not believe it is right for these people to be asking this to 14-17 yeat old kids because most of the kids at my school do not fully understand what they are getting into by agreeing to meet with these crazy people about religion. Finally, if the child denies wanting to participate the "disciple" will shake their head in a displeased manner and then walk away, making the kid feel guilty and fearful just for saying "No, thanks" to a bunch of lunatics.Basically, as you can see, I am concerned for not just myself, but for my buddies at my school (especcially the younger 9th graders, because most of us seniors are pretty wise to this shit already.)Here is a link to a video taped at one of the meetings on my campus last May. I'm glad I found it so you people can see for yourself that it is rather radical.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWM58mTLt-kAll in all I'm just wondering if a church organization comes into a school and holds a somewhat volunatry meeting for students, is it considered legal because it falls under freedom of speech, or if it would be illegal because it violates the separation between church and state?I know that having meetings on a voluntary basis during non-curriclular time is perfectly legal. I just want to know if the approach of a church member who is an adult that has no affiliation with the school personally going up to each group of lunch tables and asking them to learn about God at a public school is legal? To me, church members should not be allowed to be able to walk into a cafeteria and minister if they are not a teacher at the school and if they are not affiliated with the school.
Open Question: Are McCain and Palin...
By Frank Schaeffer October 10, 2008 John McCain: If your campaign does not stop equating Sen. Barack Obama with terrorism, questioning his patriotism and portraying Mr. Obama as "not one of us," I accuse you of deliberately feeding the most unhinged elements of our society the red meat of hate, and therefore of potentially instigating violence. At a Sarah Palin rally, someone called out, "Kill him!" At one of your rallies, someone called out, "Terrorist!" Neither was answered or denounced by you or your running mate, as the crowd laughed and cheered. At your campaign event Wednesday in Bethlehem, Pa., the crowd was seething with hatred for the Democratic nominee - an attitude encouraged in speeches there by you, your running mate, your wife and the local Republican chairman.Shame! John McCain: In 2000, as a lifelong Republican, I worked to get you elected instead of George W. Bush. In return, you wrote an endorsement of one of my books about military service. You seemed to be a man who put principle ahead of mere political gain. You have changed. You have a choice: Go down in history as a decent senator and an honorable military man with many successes, or go down in history as the latest abettor of right-wing extremist hate. John McCain, you are no fool, and you understand the depths of hatred that surround the issue of race in this country. You also know that, post-9/11, to call someone a friend of a terrorist is a very serious matter. You also know we are a bitterly divided country on many other issues. You know that, sadly, in America, violence is always just a moment away. You know that there are plenty of crazy people out there. Stop! Think! Your rallies are beginning to look, sound, feel and smell like lynch mobs
Open Question: HELP!!! Please proof...
Have you been aware that education can take you to places you have never imagined? Day after day, we see commercials illustrating that a higher education can put you in a higher social financial position. For instance, we encounter big posters at school stating, "Learn more to Earn more.” Many may agree or disagree with this statement, but overall it helps encourage students to further their education. For example, we see that most Los Angelenos embrace the diversity of college campuses to distinguish a good or bad instructor. Many individuals have found teaching rather boring, even nearly falling asleep in class. So does education pay off in the end? Knowledge is a wise investment and is needed because individuals with instructions have a greater opportunity to get a good paying job, gain more power and discover a new world of excitement. First of all, it is clear that you need a higher education in order to work in a high paying position. In order to obtain a Doctorate degree or a Masters’ degree, which you need for many professional jobs, schools will require large investments of time and money. For example, my aunt spent many years earning a Masters’ Degree in Psychology. Now she makes a high salary working as a Psychologist at Belmont Molina 2High School. There are two main types of occupation: white- collar and blue-collar. Having a white-collar job means that you do not require a uniform. You either work in an office or in a professional environment. Having a blue-collar job refers to a worker such as a miner mechanic who wears work often blue or khaki clothes or specialized protective clothing. They also may have an unskilled speech and attitude. Moreover, with further education individuals understand that their knowledge brings out greater power. According to Webster’s Dictionary, power means the ability to act or produce an effect, authority, control, or a sovereign state. A good example of a man who used education to gain power is Malcolm X. As a Muslim leader, Malcolm X achieved a great number of supporters who gave him power. He was able to produce an effect when a disciple of his was brutally hurt and was not receiving the best of health care. Using his knowledge of rights and laws, Malcolm X insured that the authorities issued his student the best possible care. However, having a great amount of power is worthless in many cases. Many individuals use power in a negative way. For example, Paris Hilton has squandered her power and money in senseless things. In the Bible, King Solomon used wisdom to expand the kingdom of Israel. Having wisdom with power is the answer to many of our problems. In addition, further learning may open us, students to a new world of excitement. Malcolm X said to himself, "that between Mr. Muhammad's teachings, Molina 3my correspondence, my visitors, and my reading of books, months passed without me even thinking about being imprisoned. While being in prison for many years and stimulating his mind through encyclopedic learning he learned to liberate himself from his surroundings. In my life, educating myself about The Bible has opened my eyes to which is the truth about life. The same is true when a student opens a book and learns. When such students are challenged, obviously our college campuses will be full of excitement for life.In conclusion, further investing in education has a positive effect. An individual may see a clearer picture of where they want to stand in their society. They could be able to make wiser choices not only about what career path they plan to take but also a wiser decision in their lives when it comes down to their health and family. The time has come for us, as students, to dedicate our time and our future to education.

Resolved Question: why have attacks...
by obama or mccain? with this mudslinging, except to show america what immoral clowns they both are? the speech writers and party leaders should be shot on sight!
Resolved Question: This country...
i just wonder sometimes, i mean america is good place to live no doubt, i meant you can't get food and shelter, a lot of places can't even guarantee those. but a lot of people are blind to what happens all around. People who have money here can get away with anything and i mean ANYTHING!!! i mean we believe we have all these right but loop holes allow corporations to completely violate us. All our government and corporations care about is money and power. and they will use any means necessary to gain and keep both. i guess what they are most skilled at is creating the illusion that you are free. i mean you work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week just to have enough money to get by, a lot of your money goes to bills, for example one of the things i don't get is insurance, i know it's purpose, but you keep paying for it and you only ever see the money you pay put to good use IF something happens and then they try ever possible way to avoid paying for the damage, devious isn't it. this seems to be the norm here lol. also all these rich guys love war, they make huge amounts of money selling military gear, and they get to take the othercountry'ss resources, well i can go on an on, i'm on a little rant here but let me just stop here and hear your opinions, so what do you think, do you think we get screwed over big time? let me rephrase that because it's not just us that get screwed over by our country, do you think that the world gets screwed over by our money hungry/power hungry country? lol and please don't call this treason or something okay, we bearly have the right of freedom of speech anymore.I beg to differ AZ. The problem with this country are the people who are as blind as you.
Open Question: Questioning my support...
If I voted today, I think I'd still pull the lever for the dems, but I am beginning to have serious questions and leaning to the right since there candidate is a bit more central on most issues. I've been an Obama fan since his speech 4 years ago and the DNC, however was hoping he would have delayed his candidacy while he gained more experience. Still his "change" message hit to the heart of what I desire so I supported him through the primaries. Now with the fact that obama was the third highest politician to receive money from FNMA/FHLMC lobbyists, I question if the message was real.

Open Question: Did McCain get a new...
Oopsi i forgot, we don't have any, they're all in Iraq. My bad!I just saw his latest speech and his tone and style is completely different. He seems to be promising the world to Americans....it seems like hes blowing SOOOO much smoke in a desperate attempt to gain votes because he knows hes trailing. He's clearly taking advantage of the uncertainty of so many Americans, by promising to be able to solve EVERY problem there is. Can you say False bravado. I mean I don't see him explaining HOW he's going to do anything. What do you think? Do you also call his BS, or do you see him as the all- seeing, all- knowing, all- solving Moses he pretends to be?Ed... Well he won't be pulling it out of his ass, or your ass, or my ass... like McCain will.Obama will be getting more tax from the ultra rich conglomerates. And also with winding down the Iraq war, we'll have those billions to now to put into OUR economy.
Open Question: Hi,is there anybody...
Hi, iam a foreigner, iam not very good at English, i have a speech in english next week, can anybody help me to fix it,please?thank you so much!!!!!!!!!There is an old saying in English called “You have made your bed and now you must lie in it.” Let me tell you a story that you probably have already heard about it before. A skilled carpenter had his mind to leave the house-building business. Therefore, his employer asked him to build just one more house as a personal favor. Though he agreed, he finished his work perfunctorily. Needless to say, at the end of the story his employer came to inspect the house then he handed the door key to the carpenter and said, “This house is for you, it’s my gift.” The carpenter was so regretful that if he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it absolutely different. No pain, no gain. The house we will live in tomorrow depends on today’s attitude and the choices we make. I can not help but think of our life, especially university life after I read this thought-provoking story. We can classify university students roughly into three groups: those who learn out of interests, those who learn for a better life, and those who learn with an unfirm stance. Firstly, the students who learn without fatigue simply because they have discovered beauty in books. Secondly, the seekers ‘for better careers’ absorb the most knowledge and to obtain all the available certificates, which may serve as a competitive edge in the dog-eat-dog human resources market in four years’ time. And the rest of the students using the least part of their time to take courses, finish assignment while spending almost all of their time on enjoying their campus life which means sleeping, drinking and hanging out with friends. They seem delight with their undisciplined behavior and unconcerned about the lacking serious occupation of life. But actually they do not know what they are doing, nor what they are willing to do, nor what they will be doing after college. They are a group of “sleepers”. These kinds of people advocate the so-called unconstraint life. They just like kites that always want to fly higher and further, but once they succeed in breaking loose their short-lived freedom from restraint it will simply put them at the mercy of an unsympathetic breeze. This tells us that too much liberty spills all. Being a party animal is nothing wrong, but the problem is they should take a proper attitude of their life and deal with their time effectively. It is almost certain that after four years, those who learn out of interests will be happy, those who learn with a determination will be professionally successful at least, those who learn with an unfirm stance will probably end up with nothing. A wise person once said, “You can have anything you want in the world if you sacrifice everything else for it.” What he means is everything comes with a price. If you choose to be an ungoverned youth yourself than you have to be responsible for your future. From the day we set our foot on this planet, we are filled the difference we will make, who we will be and where we will go. We always expect getting success with no hard working but the truth is that those people are usually big losers, maybe because we are not as gifted as we thought or we just didn’t have a right attitude as to deserve what we expect to have. If you don’t want to say “If I were a boy again, I would…” when you getting older but accomplish nothing, please take sage attitude and choices of your life, because life is not all beer and skittles. Thanks again!!!!!!sorry, i mean there must be some mistakes in my compostion, like grammasr or phases and words..can anybody help me please?ㅠ.ㅠ
Resolved Question: Is this a good...
I was born on the date of April 29, 1818, in the residence of Moscow. What I will do in the future as Tzar, with serfdom, I will forever try and free the serfs, because it is better to abolish serfdom from above than to wait for it to abolish itself. If you are worried about losing prosperity, only due to loosing serfs, you must be ignorant. We must end it now, to push forward the Russian community and continue to westernize, whiles Gaining more power, and technology. I WANT to modernize Russia, and overcome the Industrial revolution. We will forever be close to Leaders of the world. Not as thee leader, but as one off the leaders. We don’t want to rule the world. We want to Continue and push it forward. Although I had a childhood, were at an early age I learnt to obey, and respect my father, occasionally filling in for his position. I grew up with private tutors and constant work among physical endurance in militaristic conditions. Naturally, the common people, as yourselves, do not want to wage war; neither in Russia, nor In England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But, after all it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or even a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice. The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of Patriotism and proposing the country to danger. It is the same in any country. (Alexander II)Please, tell me what sucks, and tell me whats good. Also, a little bit on how to end it would be nice, hahathank you Y!A
Resolved Question: So I'm writing a...
I'm writing a paper comparing Macbeth and Richard III. It must be 3 pages long and I've got the first few paragraphs. I got a B- on my last paper in this class (it's a class specifically devoted to Shakespeare's plays). My English professor, who is British and extremely intelligent, seemed to see through my tendency to BS and dance around the subject, and told me "there was a half-hearted quality to the whole paper." This is some of what I have so far: Macbeth and Richard III, the main characters in their respective plays, seem strikingly similar at first glance. They are both men of middling power who wish to gain more authority and prestige. Richard begins the play as duke of Gloucester and Macbeth as Thane of Glamis. Through ambition, greed, and murder, both reach positions of great power. These are the things they share. The chief differences between them lie in their paths to the throne, and their state of mind while on that course.Macbeth is a man who is easy to sympathize with, at least at first. In Act 1, Macbeth and Banquo meet the three witches, who prophesize that Macbeth will be king. In the beginning, Macbeth is seen more as a victim of circumstance. If those first seeds of dreadful ambition had not been planted by the witches, perhaps he would not have been tempted into murder and treason. But Macbeth is intrigued by these predictions, and this is when Macbeth begins his gradual decline into depravity. By comparison, Richard is identified as the villain from the outset. In fact, he states “I am determinèd to prove a villain” (1,1, ln. 30) in his first speech. He goes on to outline a plot to set his older brothers against one another. He wishes to overthrow King Edward IV, his eldest brother, and eliminate the Duke of Clarence, who is next in line for the throne. In contrast to Macbeth, Richard is unapologetically immoral. So, I know it's not the most exciting subject in the world, but does anyone out there have any pointers? Constructive criticism? My prof. also said I had "great potential" so I really want to knock his socks off this time. Thanks in advance to anyone who answers!Steph

When foreign businesses and individuals want to do business in America, they pay a captial gains tax for the privilige of doing that business here. If Obama raises that tax, it SOUNDS good for us, butwhat will really happen? What will happen is that those businesses and individuals will go toCanada, Europe, and other Nations to do business INSTEAD of the United States, to avoid such a terrible tax that they would not haveto pay in other Countries. America loses. We lose income, we lose jobs, we lose money flow. The dollar suffers. You and I suffer. Our children suffer.Do not be blinded by craftiness in speeches. The real deal is that ifyou burden investers beyond what is reasonable, they will not wantto do business here, and the economy suffers as a result.Do you really want this economy to get any worse? Then why onEarth would you put the most radical leftwing politician into theWhite House? Do people want this economy to get worse or what?http://www.theobamafile.com
Voting Question: McCain Essay!?!?!?!...
Presidential ChoiceThe presidential election this year is going to have an interesting outcome. The way it’s been taking twists and turns, almost like a rollercoaster, is very unstable. Personally, I don’t understand what may happen. With McCain almost “taking a vacation”; he’s almost putting himself at risk. Although if he has the support and people like how he’s handling this crisis, then maybe he’ll pull it off. On the other hand, we have Obama, is he necessarily right for throwing this media feed back to throw off the McCain supporters? The answer is no, nevertheless, he has potential. Like the old wise saying, “two wrongs don’t make a right”, it’s true! Clearly stating two wrong doings obviously don’t make the situation better. So rather than beating around the bush-no pun intended- The presidential candidate I’d highly choose at this point would be McCain. My reasoning is because he literally cares enough rather than “fighting” over the election. Also it was a smart decision on his part for having Sarah Palin come into play. She’s truly family oriented and clearly concerned about the lower middle class rather than having just this huge chaotic mess over each others views and beliefs. Let me ask you something right now. Why is it we have conservatives and liberals, aren’t we all Americans, we’re all working for the people, rather than being totally capitalistic, and fending for ourselves. With their experience and views I strongly believe that there’s more diversity here, rather than Obama and Biden. Clearly McCain’s and Palin’s economy view is very conservative and they’re looking for ways that they can help it with out going too drastic making society react in such a way that could result in something horrid. They want to help the economy by actually using “old” ways, not really old but realistic ways. During the news this morning on Fox & Friends on Fox News, there was this little blurb of a speech McCain had said and it said exactly this “ Our economy is being man handled Corporate is being greedy, even Wall Street is greedy, but something has to happen for us to control this crisis.” That’s saying something right there, that he’s being honest, rather than hiding it and not saying what the public knows, he’s being blunt about it that the Corporate people are rich, and they don’t want to do anything about it only if that means the Stock Market will go up, then they’ll do something! Obama and Biden on the other hand, are rather more for change. Let me put it in other words. Must I add, right when I looked at Barack Obama’s website, it asked me right away if I would like to donate to him. If you look at John McCain’s it literally is more conservative. Obama’s view of the economy would be all about business, he’s not really much of a family man, and also he’s for a lot of economical resources. Meaning he’s for environmental friendly things at the same time of being all for his religion, and being involved with the community. Although according to Barack Obama’s Website, Obama grew up mostly with his grandparents and his mother. Isn’t it interesting how he isn’t really conservative? He was fighting for loans for college, and working it off. He’s for new and improved opportunities. How are we supposed to get a new improved society when here we are in a financial crisis with still no resolution at the time? So here’s something to change it up a little bit, let’s go on about the great word of TAXES! In this case you don’t need to shriek; you’re not paying anything or filling out forms. The views that McCain has are well based on experience. Although McCain doesn’t have a clear plan, he’s basing his campaign on experience with life; he’s been a senator, as well as being in Persian Gulf War. Meaning, which he’s, truly “walked a mile in our shoes”. In reference of John McCain’s’ Website (www.johnmccain.com), it states that he wants to keep tax rates low. “Keeping the top tax rate at 35 percent, maintain the 15 percent rates on dividends and capital gains, and phase-out the Alternative Minimum Tax.” This is looking pretty good to me right about now; he’s showing that he knows that the small business owners are the heart of America, and that they shouldn’t be taxed because it hurts everyone. Now, to be fair, Obama’s side of the story makes me think that he’s very unsure of himself. Let me explain, He’s for change obviously, and rather, he’s extremely vague on how he’s going to have a change in the economy. He’s not really throwing any plans out. So to achieve my suspicion, I had to look at his website after being asked for the 14th time if I’d like to donate only fifteen dollars of my own money to him and then I’ll be sent a special little do-dad saying “Obama Election 08” in nice little blue and red trim! How great and exciting, almost makes me want to donate, sensing the sarcasm right about now? On with the details! Right hot from the webpage, (www.barackobama.com) it stated “Obama ensures th
Resolved Question: Do you think he is...
Ok, there is this guy that i met in my speech class that said out loud, during a speech, that he had a girlfriend. What i later noticed was that he kept looking at me from across the room and then one day we sat together during lunch. We just have been remaining friends and getting to know one another but he has been flirting with me a lot (i can tell!). A girlfriend of mine told me that one day she saw this "cute boy" at his job who tried to ask her for her number after she jokingly tried to hit on him and long story short, it happened to be the same guy i was talking about. Two days ago (and i didnt bring this convo up) he asked me if i was seeing anyone and a little bit about my personal life. I then asked him if he was seeing anyone and he said yes, "but shes kinda a bitch sometime" and then he said that he was joking ???????? He then later on told me in the convo that he would NEVER cheat and that hes not like that but sometimes guys tend to say that to gain a girls "trust" in them. what do you think??I dont know what his intentions are! Is he having bad relations with his girlfriend and wants to find a new one? Me? and other girl? or is he just a player and wants to find ANY girl? i admit, he is nice, sweet, and funny, but any cheater could be like that. help!!!

Please if I have errors correct them and rewrite or edit in a nice clear way . Thank you There is substantial consensus on the importance of communication skills in the general education of students. Virtually every college or university mission’s statement makes the development of communication skill a central educational goal. There is also widespread acknowledgment of the vital important of oral communication in the personal, professional and civic lives of graduates.Effective communication helps maintain a sense of community and an ability to craft consensus in an increasingly diverse and complex world. An oral communication course brings together students from across the institution and provides direct experience in communication within a diverse speech community. Also communication course emphasizes the most basic and universal concepts and skills that cut across many fields such as listening respectfully and critically, explaining points clearly, asking questions to gain understanding, adapting messages to different contexts, and solving problems in groups. These all are important and what we need in our future fields no matter in what program you are.
Open Question: Correct my speech?...
here is my speech: SpeechWars, pollution, and low energy, these are the some of the problems we face here in America. These things do not only affect us in the present day but also the future generations to come. I, Fernand Castro, as the president of the United States of America will do all I can to solve these problems. These are very difficult problems to solve even for the president but if we all work together in unity, we can solve these problems. We can and will have the solution to have no more wars. We will have the solution to pollution. We will solve the problem to the lowness of energy. We are the UNITED states of America and that also means that all people should be united. Change, yes good change in America is what we need for the future generations and us to come. What are our goals? If the problems become solved, we can achieve what everybody wants: peace and happiness. We need to solve the problems on wars. What do wars do? They separate people from their friends and family. Then, the family has the fear for their loved one’s death or the worry for serious injuries. So how can we solve this? Well, I can make a “Peace contract” to all the other countries so we can have peace and a war free country. Well, most likely some countries will not sign so the only thing we can do is to not do anything that will get those countries angry or upset. Without wars, we can save money from the wars and use it somewhere else than in the army. With that money we can use it to help solve some of the problems in the United States. Now for the people who were full time in army, we can help you get good jobs or give you some of the money that was from the armies that we got.Pollution, it is another problem, but it is not only here in the United States but worldwide. Research shows that we are one of the top polluters and one of the richest countries but for many years we have not taken the responsibility to clean our environment that affects the whole world. We will try to find a way to make Hybrids ( gas/electric car) cheaper. We will also try to make triple Hybrids(solar) and find ways to clean our air and waters. Now what can you do? Well, most of your drains go t bodies of water and if you try to conserve it, you help lessen dirty water go into our oceans. Energy, it is running out in America. We can find a way to get energy from solar or wind. But as of right now, you can save energy. There are various ways to conserve energy. Some ways not only save energy but also save money. First, you can turn off anything you are not using. For example, when the lights are on and you are in another room you can turn it off to conserve energy. Second, you can buy energy efficient fluorescent light bulbs. Last but not least you can conserve energy is whenever possible you ride a bike, walk, or carpool. The solution to our problems is unity. Unity is the rope that ties us all together. These things will not only help us but it will also help the future generations and they will have peace and happiness. War, pollution, and energy are not the only problems we have but the when these are solved and we gained more happiness we can solve other problems. No matter how hard it is we can solve it. Yes, it may take time but isn’t it better than not doing anything about these problems? Remember, even the most powerful person in the world can not solve these problems and they need help from the common people. Yes, we CAN solve these problems.

An essay for ap european historyThe New MonarchiesIn England, France, and Spain, “the major characteristic in the development of the ‘new monarchies’ was the expansion of central government authority in the areas of economic, political, judicial, military and religious policy.” The same does not apply to Eastern Europe where the imbalance in power between the nobility and monarchs caused problems. The challenges created by the nobility as well as the church fighting the monarch for power was what stopped a strong monarchy from being created in Eastern Europe. All of these places had trouble creating a strong monarchy, a government ruled by one leader, and one factor that caused this was other nobles. Shortly after the Hundred Years’ War, a war broke out in England called the War of the Roses (1450’s), where the ducal house of Lancaster (red rose) fought against the ducal house of York (white rose) and many aristocrats joined in the war for power. Finally, Henry Tudor stopped the war in 1485 by defeating the last Yorkist king, Richard III. (Spielvogel, p.338) Now the Tudor dynasty was created and Henry VII was the first king. His first order of business was to get military control. He did this by stopping the nobles’ private wars by “abolishing ‘livery and maintenance,’ the practice by which wealthy aristocrats maintained private armies.” (Spielvogel, p.338-339) Then, the king “relied on special commissions to trusted nobles to raise troops for a specific campaign, after which the troops were disbanded” since England, unlike France and Spain, did not have their own army. (Spielvogel, p.339) Henry also gained judicial control by creating the Court of Star Chamber to control the irresponsible nobles. This court did not have a jury and it allowed torture to extract information. (Spielvogel, p.339) With Henry running England, the economy improved because he used diplomacy to avoid expensive wars, not burdening the gentry and middle class with taxes from loans from the parliament, and therefore the townspeople supported him. (Spielvogel, p.338)After the Hundred Years’ War, French kings found it difficult to assert their authority because France was facing depopulation, desolate farmlands, ruined commerce, and independent and unruly nobles. (Spielvogel, p.337) Despite this, the French kings used the common enemy, the English, as a way to unite France. Charles VII started creating a strong monarchy by creating a royal army composed of cavalry and archers. He gained control of France by getting “permission from the Estates-General to levy the taille, an annual tax directed usually on property or land, without any need for further approval from the Estates-General” which took power away from this parliamentary body. (Spielvogel, p.337) King Louis XI contributed much to the strengthening of the monarchy. One way he did this was by receiving a secure source of income by making the taille a permanent tax. Also, Charles the Bold, one of his vassals and Duke of Burgundy, tried to create a middle kingdom between France and Germany but Louis opposed this and when Charles died in 1477 fighting the Swiss, Charles’s possessions , the duchy of Burgundy, was added to Louis’s land. (Spielvogel, p.337-338) “Three years later, the provinces of Anjou, Maine, Bar, and Provence were brought under royal control.” (Spielvogel, 338)Unlike England and France, Spain created a monarchy through religion more than politics. Many independent Christian kingdoms emerged from the Middle Ages, the strongest Spanish kingdoms being Aragon and Castile which were united (in a dynastic, not political way) by the marriage of Isabella of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon. “Both kingdoms maintained their own parliaments (Cortes), courts, laws, coinage, speech, customs, and political organs.” (Spielvogel, p.339) Despite this, the two worked together to strengthen their control. They started this by stripping the royal council (supervises local administration and oversees the implementation of government policies) of aristocrats and replacing them with middle-class lawyers who were trained in Roman law and believed that the monarchy embodied the power of the state. (Spielvogel, p.339) The second step for them was to reorganize the Spanish military, which became the strongest European army by the sixteenth century. The third, and biggest step, was attaining power from the Catholic Church. The first step to doing this was to “secure from the pope the right to select the most important church officials in Spain, making the clergy virtually an instrument of royal power.” (Spielvogel, p.339) The pope did this after the “Reconquest,” when Spain drove most of the Muslims out and once again made Spain a part of Christendom, since Spain was now the most Christian country. The second step was religious uniformity, which they accomplished through the Spanish Inquisition of 1478. This worked with cruel efficiency and ma

I had to write an Italian sonnet on a historical figure for one of my english classes. Please tell me if you think it sounds stupid or if you like it. Thanks a bunch! :)Chief Joseph, your people are crying, their hearts overflow with grief and pain, many of their ancestors have been slain, your children are slowly dying, the dead in their graves are sighing, those forever lost in the mountains have succumbed to the rain, even General Howard has nothing left to gain, and yet the eagle in the valley is still flying,Your people have been able to come through, surviving all trials and remaining to teach, carrying out each and every endeavor, through everything your children have remained true, faithfully abiding by your speech, "I will fight no more forever"If you don't know what an italian sonnet is it follows the format abbaabba cdecde for ryhming. so yeah I had to make it ryhm unfortunately.oops ***rhyme***

Resolved Question: What if this...
1. repubs propose bailout2. mccain opposes and shuts the idea down3. and gives an eloquent, passionate speech on fairness, corporate greed, responsibility, and all that.4. showing everyone that he is a maverick willing to go against his own party to stand up for the people.but little did anyone know, they never intended to do the bailout in the first place - they had planned it all from the start. It sounds a little paranoid, but it wouldn't be the first time repubs exploited a tragedy for personal gain.Interesting thought, though I don't put much merit in it myself. Just an idea.
Voting Question: How do you tell...
OK here is the situation. It has been 10 years soon since HS graduation. Two months before graduation a girl in my class decided to get overly involved and take over the class. I had been class president since I was in 6th grade and worked very hard. In our senior year I had already lived on my own. There were a lot of abuse issues in the house and I left. In January of that year I started college early admissions. I still attend all meetings but did not have to be at the HS. This girl somehow decided to get about 20 students to try to "impeach" me believe it or not. Her wish did not come true. I still was unable to get her to back down and she eventually gained the title of co-president. So after all the work I put in I had to share my graduation speech, title, and time with this girl. I started to gather names this summer for a reunion. Well so did she. She contacted me after being told to by several of our classmates. She sent me a list that had 4 names. I have only been communicating with her via email. I sent her my up-to-date list yesterday. She send me an email that implies she has been working harder and contacted several people and will be arranging a meeting in January. There are about 20 people that want to help with his reunion. It is neither my show nor hers. At this point I want to walk away and say just send me an invitation. But something inside tells me to put her in her place. SO how do I do this and what do I say???? HELP!!This happened in our senior year. Not 6th grade.
