Oct. 13 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. jumped in New York trading after governments in the U.S., Europe and Asia agreed to support banks, and reports that GM held talks with Chrysler LLC about a possible merger.
General Motors Corp shares surged as much as 64 percent on Monday on signs that the No. 1 U.S. automaker had explored options ranging from a merger with Ford Motor Co or Chrysler to federal funding in order to ride out a brutal downturn in sales.
